Fixed drug eruption: case reportA 62-year-old man developed fixed drug eruption while
receiving oxcarbazepine. The man, who had generalisedidiopathic epilepsy, started receiving oxcarbazepine 150mgtwice daily; his seizures were subsequently controlled at adose of 300mg twice daily [route not stated]. One week afterstarting treatment, he developed a skin reaction on his leftarm. The man’s oxcarbazepine dose was immediatelyreduced, and he started receiving topiramate. In 5 days, theskin reaction became more serious. He had an erodederythematous plaque on his arm measuring 8cm × 5cm. Hewas diagnosed with fixed drug eruption, and he wasprescribed mometasone. Oxcarbazepine was discontinued,and he recovered within 1 week.
