Pseudoaneurysm in an elderly patient: casereport
A 75-year-old man developed a renal arterypseudoaneurysm during chemotherapy with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine andprednisone or prednisolone* (R-CHOP)
The man presented with left flank pain and weight loss.Abdominal lymph node swelling and a renal massoccupying the whole left kidney were observed. Heunderwent needle biopsy of the left kidney, and wasdiagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. He beganreceiving R-CHOP [dosages not stated]. Duringchemotherapy, he experienced intermittent left flank pain, and his haemoglobin level gradually decreased. Afterthree cycles of R-CHOP, enhanced CT scan revealedintratumoural haemorrhage and saccular pseudoaneurysmin the left renal artery. After the fifth cycle, his tumourbegan to enlarge, and he became transfusion dependent forsevere anaemia. Repeat contrast CT scan revealedexpansion of the pseudoaneurysm and intratumouralhaemorrhage.
The man underwent coil embolisation with successfulocclusion of the pseudoaneurysm. Thereafter, his tumourgradually shrank, and he became transfusion independent.
Author comment: "We report here a case of non-traumatic [renal artery pseudoaneurysm] due tochemotherapy for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma".
* It was not specified whether this patient was receivingprednisone or prednisolone
