Reactions 1429 - 24 Nov 2012 S Antineoplastics Gastric perforation: case report A 42-year-old woman experienced gastric perforation while receiving cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, rituximab and vincristine [dosages and routes not stated] for gastric Burkitt-like lymphoma. She presented with acute abdominal pain and distension after the second course of chemotherapy [time to onset not stated]. Laparotomy showed perforation of the gastric corpus; she underwent primary closure to repair the perforation. Endoscopy showed an improvement and she subsequently received four more cycles of chemotherapy. There was no recurrence of disease at follow-up 3 years later. Author comment: "Our case presented with a large gastric ulcer and chemotherapy induced perforation developed. The perforation was thought to have occurred due to tumour cell necrosis in the anterior wall of the stomach after the second dose of chemotherapy." Ergun M, et al.
