Gastric perforation: case reportA 42-year-old woman experienced gastric perforation

while receiving cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, rituximaband vincristine [dosages and routes not stated] for gastricBurkitt-like lymphoma. She presented with acuteabdominal pain and distension after the second course ofchemotherapy [time to onset not stated]. Laparotomyshowed perforation of the gastric corpus; she underwentprimary closure to repair the perforation. Endoscopyshowed an improvement and she subsequently receivedfour more cycles of chemotherapy. There was norecurrence of disease at follow-up 3 years later.

Author comment: "Our case presented with a large gastriculcer and chemotherapy induced perforation developed. Theperforation was thought to have occurred due to tumour cellnecrosis in the anterior wall of the stomach after the seconddose of chemotherapy."Ergun M, et al.
