Febrile neutropenia and bacterial pneumonia inan elderly patient: case report

A man developed febrile neutropenia and bacterialpneumonia while receiving antineoplastic therapy forrecurrent thymic carcinoma. Following a diagnosis ofthymic carcinoma in July 2002, the man received five cyclesof cisplatin, doxorubicin, vincristine andcyclophosphamide (ADOC), with a good response. TheADOC regimen [dosages and routes not stated] wasrestarted in August 2011 due to a recurrence of thymiccancer, but he developed febrile neutropenia and bacterialpneumonia during the first cycle. He refused furtherantineoplastic therapy and remained under observationwithout symptoms [outcome not clearly stated].
