Reactions 1481, p7-8 - 7 Dec 2013 S Antineoplastics Various toxicities: case report A 44-year-old woman developed various toxicities while receiving chemotherapy for plasmablastic lymphoma [routes, dosages, durations of treatment to reactions onset and outcomes not stated]. The woman, who had a history of chronic hepatitis C, alcoholism and IV drug abuse, was diagnosed with plasmablastic lymphoma. She received 8 cycles of chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (CHOP); this treatment was associated with grade 1 diarrhoea and grade 2 anaemia and neutropenia. Due to disease progression, she began receiving salvage therapy with ifosfamide, etoposide and carboplatin (ICE). However, treatment was discontinued after the third cycle due to treatment-related grade 3 haematological and renal toxicities. Despite treatment with bortezomib, her disease progressed and she died 26 months after her initial diagnosis. Author comment: "Overall, CHOP was well tolerated with grade 1 diarrhea and grade 2 anemia and neutropenia. . . [ICE] treatment was stopped after the 3rd cycle due to treatment-related grade 3 hematological and renal toxicities." Saba NS, et al.
