Various toxicities: case reportA 44-year-old woman developed various toxicities while
receiving chemotherapy for plasmablastic lymphoma [routes, dosages, durations of treatment to reactions onset andoutcomes not stated].
The woman, who had a history of chronic hepatitis C,alcoholism and IV drug abuse, was diagnosed withplasmablastic lymphoma. She received 8 cycles ofchemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (CHOP); this treatment wasassociated with grade 1 diarrhoea and grade 2 anaemia andneutropenia. Due to disease progression, she began receivingsalvage therapy with ifosfamide, etoposide and carboplatin(ICE). However, treatment was discontinued after the thirdcycle due to treatment-related grade 3 haematological andrenal toxicities. Despite treatment with bortezomib, herdisease progressed and she died 26 months after her initialdiagnosis.
Author comment: "Overall, CHOP was well tolerated withgrade 1 diarrhea and grade 2 anemia andneutropenia. . . [ICE] treatment was stopped after the 3rdcycle due to treatment-related grade 3 hematological andrenal toxicities."Saba NS, et al.
