Revision o f some type-specimens o f European Ichneumonidae (H ym enoptera), 5

Abstract. The paper concerns 19 species o f the Ichneumonidae, subfamilies: Cryptinae and Banchinae. Basing on several collections, the descriptive types o f 22 species-group form s described by 10 authors have been investigated, 6 lectotypes are selected, 12 new synonym s, 5 new com binations are proposed, and one form raised to the species status.

G ravenhorst (1829: 769) (as I. enervator Fabr.) and D alla Torre (1901: 541) (as I. renovator Thunb.) e rroneously synonym ized this species w ith M esostenus gladiator (Scop.).

Roman (1912: 276) trea ted the Thunberg’s nam e Ichneum on renovator (1822) as a p ro p erly described species, and the single fem ale specim en in his collection as the type specim en. He also on th is basis synonym ized it w ith C ratocryptus annulitarsis Thomson, 1873 (vide: p. 294). A lthough , Thunberg in the second p a r t o f his p ap e r (1824) clearly s ta ted th a t his nam e was a rep lacem ent nam e for Ichneum on enervator Fabricius, 1793 because it was a ju n io r hom onym o f Ichneum on enervator Linnaeus, 1758. T herefo re the specim en in the Thunberg collection is no t a syntype, b u t only a specim en determ ined by Thunberg.
