Reactions 1391 - 3 Mar 2012 Oxcarbazepine Anorgasmia and ejaculatory failure: case report A man [age at onset not clearly stated] developed anorgasmia and ejaculatory failure while receiving oxcarbazepine as a mood stabiliser. The 28-year-old man had a long history of schizoaffective disorder, initially presenting in 2008. His psychotic symptoms were controlled with quetiapine and paliperidone, but he reported a low mood, anxiety, sleep disturbance and low energy. Oral oxcarbazepine 300mg twice daily was initiated. He felt that his mood had improved within a week, but he reported an inability to experience orgasm or to ejaculate [duration of treatment to reaction onset not clearly stated]. The man’s symptoms subsided a few days after discontinuing oxcarbazepine. A few days later, he restarted oxcarbazepine 300mg twice daily, and developed anorgasmia and ejaculatory failure.
