The patient [age stated to be 49 years old; age at reaction onset not clearly stated], who had been diagnosed with syringomyelia and Arnold Chiari malformation from the age of 19 years, was followed in an outpatient clinic and received oxcarbazepine [route and dosage not stated], oxycodone, and amitriptyline. In April 2009, the patient developed probable cryptogenic organising pneumonia with respiratory distress [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. The patient required orotracheal intubation for 13 days and showed a good response to corticosteroids. In February 2010, the patient was again diagnosed with bilateral interstitial pneumonitis and received corticosteroids with a good response. Oxcarbazepine and oxycodone were withdrawn and replaced with fentanyl and gabapentin. Revisions to the patient’s treatment were made and oxycodone was reintroduced.
