Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Life is different.
In just six weeks, every part of our lives – family, school,
work, shopping, health, faith – have undergone
revolu"onary changes.
Our idea of “normal”, whatever that may look like, is
not returning any "me soon. Yet we have a strength that
goes beyond any other ins"tu"on or tradi"on. Our
founda"on is Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End. Even though these changes in
lifestyle may be unprecedented in our own "me, or in our
own country, the Church has seen it all before.
Therefore, the life of the Church, our life in Christ, will
con"nue, even if it is adapted to new and different
circumstances. Just as missionaries brought the Good News
to various cultures and in foreign lands and languages, so
we will adapt our prayer and the sharing of our lives to this
"me. We will work and pray to keep Jesus at the center of
all we do – in celebra"ng our prayer, in bringing hope to the
anxious, and in caring for those in need. As members of our
community, THANK YOU for your prayers, concern for one
another, and your support of the parish and our ministry
team. Many of you have reached out with encouragement,
and have asked how you can support the faith community,
as well as those who are most vulnerable.
We hope many of you have found us online through
the parish website, www.stgabrielparish.com, or on
Facebook at stgabrielneenah. These forms of
communica"on will con"nue.
GOOD NEWS: we are celebra"ng some of our first
bap"sms of the Easter Season this weekend! Of course they
will be done differently and safely, but the joy of new life in
Christ is no less significant!
When will public Masses resume? The short answer is
that we do not know. The Diocese of Green Bay, together
with the other four dioceses of Wisconsin, are working in
concert with the parameters laid out in the “Badger Bounce
Back” of our state government. As certain milestones in
public health are met, we hope to be able to establish safe
public gatherings. We can expect certain accommoda"ons
in how we gather, and the precau"ons that we may need to
take when we do. In the mean"me, we want to be as
crea"ve as possible in bringing the life of our Catholic faith
to our community!
NEW: We had our first parking lot adora"on and
blessing on April 27th
, and we will have it again THIS
MONDAY, May 4th
at 6:00 pm, weather permiIng.
We livestream Mass from St. Gabriel Parish each Saturday at 4:30pm. Watch live at www.facebook.com/
stgabrielneenah/. If internet is not an op"on for you,
please note that Mass is available on TV and radio (EWTN
or Relevant Radio 1050 AM), including Mass with Bishop
Ricken at 10:30am on Sunday on Channel 5 WFRV.
Confession is available in a safe and confiden"al set-up in
the St. Gabriel CHAPEL from 5-6 pm Thursdays, 2-3 pm
Saturdays, and by appointment with Fr. Bob. View this bulletin online at www.DiscoverMass.com

Bishop’s Appeal (Goal $75,158) $ 81,848
First the good news! We have met our Bishop’s Appeal
assessment! Thank you so much for your generous
contribu"ons. If you have not already given to the Bishop’s
appeal, please consider giving to this valuable cause. This
year, because of financial hardship caused by the corona
virus, 75% of contribu"ons over our parish goal will be
returned to the parish.
Regarding income and expenses, despite these difficult
"mes we managed to cover all our expenses for March. The
month of April will be more difficult. If you are used to
bringing your offertory envelopes to Mass or puIng money
in the collec"on basket each week, you may be wondering
how you can support the financial needs of the parish now.
Here are a few op"ons:
• Mail your weekly giving to the parish - 900 Geiger St.
Neenah, WI 54956
• Most banks offer free bill pay services. Go to your bank’s
website, request a payment be sent and the bank will
mail it directly to us.
• Sign up for ACH Direct Giving from your bank account to
the parish bank account. Complete the form on our
website, www.stgabrielparish.com. Click on home and
then giving and email to [email protected] or

The parish pays a 3% fee for this service.
• Give Plus Mobile app from VANCO. Download the app
from Google Playstore or the Apple app store. There is a

Please call the parish office at 722-4914 if you have any
ques"ons about these methods of dona"on. We truly need
and appreciate your assistance to meet our payroll for Fr. Bob
and our staff as we con"nue our ministry and pay parish bills
in this difficult "me. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Thank you to all that have contributed during this crisis!
We con"nue to receive dona"ons in the mail and have
increased our ACH giving. Paypal has also been used as an
easy way to give. Given the situa"on, we are expected to
be behind budget. We pray that with the generosity of all
who can give at this "me, we will pull through this crisis
together! Please stay safe everyone! May this beau"ful
Easter season bring us blessings.

We expect our restric"ons on all parish Masses and
gatherings to con"nue. Truly excep"onal circumstances,
such as funerals, may be allowed for immediate family.
The Anoinng of the Sick and Viacum (i.e. Communion
for a person who is dying) WILL remain available when needed, with priests using extreme care to avoid the
spread of disease.
We are fortunate that – because of modern
communica"ons – we are able to connect in new and
different ways, but we will share the heartache of being
apart from one another. Our goal is to help your
individual and family prayer, as well as connec"ng with
our parish community and the broader Diocese of

May God bless and protect you and your families as we
celebrate the Easter Season as people of hope.

Pastoral PonderingsPastoral PonderingsPastoral PonderingsPastoral Ponderings
It’s astonishing how varie"es of sheep can thrive almost anywhere, provided they are tended by humans. When cared for properly, these docile animals provide milk and cheese and wool and meat to cultures all over the planet. LeS to themselves, they are par"cularly vulnerable to predators, the elements, starva"on, and sickness. In order to protect sheep and help them to flourish, you need a Good Shepherd. In these weeks aSer Easter, we see the Risen Jesus from new perspec"ves. Like His first disciples, our minds and hearts are turned upside down. We come to understand that He is not just an inspiring teacher. He is so much more than a longed-for poli"cal liberator. Peter proclaimed on the morning of Pentecost, “Know for certain
that God has made both Lord and Christ this Jesus whom
you crucified.” Like Peter’s audience in Jerusalem so many years ago, we must decide what we will do with this new informa"on. We can’t simply remain lukewarm about the iden"ty of Jesus of Nazareth. This is the point where we choose whether we take Jesus at His word. Do I entrust Him with my life? Or do I hedge my bets and lean on my good old-fashioned American rugged individualism? Maybe I’d rather pursue the pleasures and diversions that this world offers. That’s certainly an op"on, but it’s a dead end. If I’m going to listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd, I am taking a path to lay down my own life for something greater. What is it that Jesus offers? “He Himself bore our sins
in His body upon the cross, so that, free from sin, we
might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have
been healed.” In breaking the power of Sin and Death, Jesus opens ways we couldn’t have imagined! Our Chris"an life is for a purpose bigger than ourselves. Just look at the troubled "me we are in, and consider the giS that we can bring to the world. Our Shepherd doesn’t brings us to withered grass and a stagnant puddle. He offers verdant pastures and resVul waters.
Health is not just the absence of disease, but the new horizon of healing and hope.
Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the flowering of jus"ce and mercy.
Love is not just the absence of hate, but the wellspring of life and goodness.
With our repentance and bap"sm, by taking on the Name of Jesus, we receive the giS of the Holy Spirit. “I came
so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” In Jesus, we become agents of healing. We become models of mercy. We become guardians of goodness.
In embracing the Good Shepherd’s life and mission, we have a courage and comfort beyond what we can find on our own. “Even though we walk in the dark valley, we fear no
evil.” Let us invite others to find His life and peace and rest. ©Steve Pable, Pastoral Associate

“Daily Discipleship” News and Events for
St. Gabriel Youth Ministry
This weekend, Sunday May 3rd
, 29 of our
high students were supposed to receive
the Sacrament of Confirma"on. Please
join me this week in praying for these students, that they
will con"nue to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, and
that like the travelers on the Road to Emmaus, their hearts
will burn with desire for more of the Lord. As part of our
Confirma"on prepara"on, we had the opportunity a few
months ago to listen to Sr. Marie Kolbe Zamora from Holy
Family Convent in Manitowoc. In our Catholic
understanding, Confirma"on is “when the bapzed person
is "sealed with the gi of the Holy Spirit" and is
strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.” Sister
Marie Kolbe also added that Confirma"on is entrus"ng
oneself to the Church – not because you love your priest
or the music, but because the Lord Jesus is
there. Confirma"on is not just our commitment to God,
but His commitment to us. Confirma"on CONFIRMS that
HE wants the opportunity to love US. What a pure joy and
blessing to know that our God – the God of the Universe
and all of crea"on – wants the chance to love each and
every one of us in a special way! Come, Holy Spirit!!

Caring for Our Parish Family Beyond These Four Walls
Belonging to St. Gabriel Parish usually means gathering with us for weekly worship. However, some of our parish family members are confined to their homes, reside in assisted living, or may be in the hospital. We want to remember them in prayer, keep them connected, and be present to them with the love of God and community. Please help our sisters and brothers by no"fying the parish office if a loved one (or friend or neighbor) is ill, homebound, or otherwise in need. Pastoral staff or Care Ministers can visit, bring Holy Communion, and offer support. We respect confiden"ality.
Please contact: Steve Pable, Pastoral Associate 722-4914 or [email protected]

OPEN HEARTS AND OPEN DOORS:
WELCOMING A GLOBAL OUTREACH
CATHOLIC EXCHANGE STUDENT
Hos"ng an exchange student is an
amazing experience for you and for the exchange student.
St. Mary Catholic High School (SMC) would like to welcome
several of the new Global Outreach exchange students for
the 2020-2021 academic year. Global Outreach is a
Catholic exchange program with a mission of building a
civiliza"on of love by forming young dynamic Catholic
servant leaders for the 21st
century. Placement of students
becomes a reality when a household opens the door to
their heart and home and says “yes” to hos"ng a student.
Currently, 11 students are wai"ng for their “Good News!
We have a host family for you” leYer. The students are
from Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia
and Ukraine. Please contact Barbara Tota-Boryczka, Execu"ve
Director, [email protected]
(920) 540-3085 or Fr. Larry Seidl, Spiritual Director,
[email protected] (920) 412-0320 for further informa"on.
Here is more informa"on on two of the fine young
students who are wai"ng placement at a Wisconsin or
Nebraska Catholic high school:
Oleh will be the first ever Ukrainian student in the
program. His father is a priest in the Byzan"ne Rite of the
Catholic Church (fully in union with the Pope), and he
himself wants to become a priest. He says that he likes to
give advice to his friends for them to make their life
beYer, because he believes his mission is from God. He is
interested in history and loves playing the violin.
Izabela is 17 years old and lives in Stroza, a small village in
Poland. She studies as a dormitory student in a Catholic high
school near Krakow. Her favorite sports are skiing, bicycling
and swimming. At home, she enjoys playing board games
and watching movies with her family and likes baking with
her mom. With her brother, she is a member of the Light
and Life Movement, a Catholic community organiza"on for
young people. She likes to help others in need and show
them her support. Her sensi"vity mobilizes her to be helpful,
giving and grateful for what she has.
