The boy, who had a history of cystic fibrosis (CF) with intermittent Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections and osteopenia, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). He received chemotherapy according to the ALL-BFM 2000 protocol (amendment 2006-07-01), that included prednisone, asparaginase and dexamethasone 10 mg/m 2 /day [dosage information incomplete; routes not stated]. During therapy, he developed cerebral venous thrombosis of the superior sagittal sinus after administration of asparaginase. He also developed aggravated osteopenia with severe back pain, with liver toxicity occurring during protocol II/1 of chemotherapy [specific drugs and duration of treatment to reaction onsets not stated]. The boy’s aggravated osteopenia resulted in the requirement for a wheelchair, as well as administration of morphine, calcium and bisphosphonates. After the onset of liver toxicity, chemotherapy was withheld. [Patient outcome not stated].
