Reactions 1339 - 19 Feb 2011 S Antineoplastics Small intestinal stricture in an elderly patient: case report A 78-year-old woman with diffuse large B cell lymphoma developed abdominal pain and vomiting after her second cycle of chemotherapy with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisolone [dosages and routes not stated]. Investigation revealed dilation of the small intestine, and severe stenosis of the ileum approximately 50cm proximal to the ileocaecal valve. Endoscopic dilation therapy with a single-balloon endoscopy was performed. Fluoroscopy demonstrated successful dilation and after 3 days, chemotherapy was reinitiated. She remained free of symptoms after 8 months, and received six cycles of chemotherapy with complete disease remission. Honzawa Y, et al.
