Small intestinal stricture in an elderly patient:case report

A 78-year-old woman with diffuse large B cell lymphomadeveloped abdominal pain and vomiting after hersecond cycle of chemotherapy with rituximab,cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine andprednisolone [dosages and routes not stated]. Investigationrevealed dilation of the small intestine, and severe stenosisof the ileum approximately 50cm proximal to the ileocaecalvalve.

Endoscopic dilation therapy with a single-balloonendoscopy was performed. Fluoroscopy demonstratedsuccessful dilation and after 3 days, chemotherapy wasreinitiated. She remained free of symptoms after 8 months,and received six cycles of chemotherapy with completedisease remission.Honzawa Y, et al.
