Reactions 1255 - 6 Jun 2009 S Antineoplastics Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in an elderly patient: case report A 75-year-old man diagnosed with acanthosis nigricans and stage IV gastric adenocarcinoma, began palliative chemotherapy according to the PELF program. The regimen included cisplatin, epirubicin, folinic acid [leucovorin] and fluorouracil [dosages not stated]. He received four cycles. No further cancer progression was observed; however, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurred during treatment [duration of therapy to reaction onset not stated]. The treatment was discontinued due to decreased exercise tolerance and concerns over the cardiotoxicity of the treatment. He was directed to further symptomatic and palliative care; he died 4 months after the completion of treatment. Krawczyk M, et al.
