SLorazepam

Respiratory distress: case reportA 46-year-old woman started receiving lorazepam [route

and dosage not stated] for catatonia. On29 November 2009, she was found to be in severerespiratory distress, thought to be due to oversedation withlorazepam [time to reaction onset not clearly stated]. Shewas transferred to an ICU, and all psychiatric medicationswere stopped. Sputum analysis revealed a multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection, and she receivedantibiotics. However, she developed thrombocytopeniaand her antibiotics were stopped. She was stabilised in theICU and was subsequently transferred to a rehabilitationfacility.Pustilnik S, et al.
