OGÓLNY OPIS PROJEKTU

Słowa kluczowe: II Wojna Światowa, fizyka, matematyka, magia, czas, bomba

Projekt ma charakter konceptualny i będzie składał się z trzech samodzielnychcałości:1) książki eseistyczno-psychologicznej,2) komiksu,3) filmu pełnometrażowego.

Kluczowym wą tkiem „Szod” jest wą tek damsko-męski, zwią zku miłosnegomężczyzny i kobiety, a ściśle rzecz bior ą c jego ewolucji – narodzin, stagnacjii ponownego odrodzenia. Wą tek ten teoretycznie rozwija szczegółowoi systematycznie przygotowywana książka pt. „Prolegomena do dialektyki zwią zkówmiłosnych" – traktat parafilozoficzny i psychologiczny, pisany jednak z dużą dawką ironii, barwnym i przystępnym językiem. Naturalną zaś koleją rzeczy – historię (fabułę) opartą o przedstawiony wyżej wą tek rozwija film oraz komiks.

Projekt „Szod” posiada następują ce aspekty:

1) rozrywkowy (wg maksymy, że można jednocześnie się zbawić i zabawić,

jakkolwiek kontrowersyjnej prima facie, ale korespondują cej z ezoteryczną zasadą jedności przeciwieństw oraz przekonaniem autora, że materia etyczna i religijna niemusi być ponura a filozoficzna nie musi być trudna czy nudna),

2) edukacyjno-terapeutyczny (m.in. psychologia zwią zku, terapia odrzucenia i terapiatożsamości, afirmacja i negacja zmiany, nudy, stałości, dialektyka osobowości,empatia, narcyzm, graniczne zaburzenia osobowości (borderline), egoizm iprawdziwa relacja z drugim (zobaczenie „Ja” – twarzy bliźniego),

3) filozoficzno-teologiczny, ezoteryczny (m.in. filozofia S. Kierkegaarda,egzystencjalizm via Kantyzm, etyka i metaetyka, metapraktyka, personalizmchrześcijański, gnoza chrześcijańska, mikro-marko, doktryny Wschodu, okultyzm,gnoza, kabała i magia, odwieczne archetypy, psychologia głębii, Jung i alchemia),

4) etyczno-psychologiczny (rozwój postaci etc. etc.),

5) humorystyczny (w innym sensie niż rozrywkowy, czyli np. ironiczny) … tak, moimzdaniem nie ma ważniejszej rzeczy w kosmosie, ważniejszej pomiędzy kobietą imężczyzną jak wspólny śmiech – ważniejszy nawet od seksu. Bóg, ważna postać w„Szod”, także, miejmy nadzieję, ma poczucie humoru, choć oczywiście kwestia tadaje podstawę do wielu wą tpliwości teologicznych, w kierunku choćby dopatrywania

się tzw. czarnego humoru.

ZARYS IDEI I NAJWAŻNIEJSZYCH WĄ TKÓW FABUŁ Y(ELEMENTARNY SYNOPSIS FILMU)

Uwaga! Nie jest to standardowy synopsis filmu ani treatment.

Ten film opowiada historię, lecz historia się w nim rozdwaja i zatrzymuje. Konflikt jesttęsknotą za konfliktem, zmianą , emocją , życiem pełną piersią i odważnym sercem,wiernym tożsamości.

Lwowska kawiarnia, lata 30 XX wieku. Pianista dystyngowanie gra tango "Unacabezza". Nad stosem zapisanych drobnymi wzorami karteczek siedzi Leo,trzydziestoletni naukowiec, matematyk. Oblicza formułę Fausta.

Sześć lat wcześniej włóczył się beztrosko z dwójką przyjaciół: Stachem Ulamem,także matematykiem oraz Bogolubovem, szachistą i bon vivantem. Razem gadali do

nocy, rozważali tajemnice świata i człowieka, podrywali dziewczyny i robili głupiedowcipy.

Trzy lata wcześniej, gdy zakochał się bez pamięci w Ewie, był najszczęśliwszymczłowiekiem na ziemi. Teraz wszystko minęło. Ich zwią zek stał się martwy, ale Leożyje marzeniem o nieprzemijają cej miłości. W codziennych stosunkach z Ewą zagubił radość, dr ęczą go wyrzuty sumienia, zatapia się w przeszłość, wspomnienia.Gdy poznaje rabbiego Horowitza (Żyda Wiecznego Tułacza), który do Polskiprzyjechał z Australii, ma go za dziwaka i hazardzistę (handlarza zdecydowaniem),gdyż stary Żyd, dla zabawy, korzystają c z tajemnych metod, ogrywa na drobne sumymiejskie kasyna gry. Z czasem rabbi staje się mentorem Leo, wtajemnicza go w

arkana kabały, inspiruje do matematycznych poszukiwań, mają cych dowieść, żeczas, zmiana, następstwo – to tylko złudzenia.

Leo chce zatrzymać czas, stworzyć formułę nieprzemijają cej namiętności, połą czyć w okamgnieniu i spoić na zawsze, w wieczność, pasję i świadomy wybór: racjonalnetrwanie przy wartościach z irracjonalnym automatyzmem (głosem serca).Nad Europą wiszą ciężkie chmury zbliżają cej się wojny.

Leo odnajduje Formułę, sprawdza ją w tajemniczym eksperymencie, który zaburzaczasoprzestrzenne kontinuum. Linia czasu rozdwaja się, zaczyna biec w dwóchalternatywnych wersjach. W jednej z nich Leo staje się gonią cym cią gle za nowością utracjuszem, skazanym na cią głe „żabie skoki” ku nowym namiętnościom, rozstajesię z Ewą , pije i śpi z przygodnie poznawanymi kobietami. W drugiej wybiera stałość wartości, żeni się z Ewą , ale umiera w nim prawdziwa radość życia.

Wybucha wojna.Leo – utracjusz angażuje się w konspirację, działalność podziemnego ruchu oporu,korzystają c z bezpiecznych papierów „karmiciela wszy” sabotuje okupanta, zyskujeupragnioną adrenalinę, nieznajomość jutra. Leo – stateczny mąż i ojciec, dlabezpieczeństwa rodziny współpracuje z wrogiem, okupantem.Przyjaciel Lea – Ulam, który wyemigrował do USA, pracuje w Los Alamos nad bombą

atomową i termoją drową . Oppenheimer notuje w notatniku: I stałem się śmiercią ,niszczycielem światów. Ulam pisze: jest dla mnie źródłem nieustają cego zdziwienia,

że kilka znaków nagryzmolonych na tablicy może zmienić bieg ludzkich spraw.Pewnego dnia Leo i Leo stają oko w oko, jako przeciwnicy.W gor ą czce potyczki Leo zabija swoje alter ego.Na niebie wybucha atomowy grzyb.

Postać Lea, jego rozbite tożsamości, zlewają się w jedno. Budzi się z zonie.Przeskok czasowy. Czarnobyl. Prypeć – opuszczone miasto, z którego mieszkańcyuciekli po awarii elektrowni ją drowej, w kilka minut, pozostawiają c książki i gazetyna stronach, które otwarli w chwili alarmu, zamrożona pustka miasta.

Rabbi Horowitz ostrzegł kiedyś Leo: Szod (co znaczy spustoszenie) powstaje, gdyw imieniu Bożym – Szaddaj (Wszechmocny) zabraknie jednej malutkiej literki,kropeczki. Pogodzenia wieczności z okamgnieniem, srogości sprawiedliwego rozumuz miłosierdziem. Gdy czas staje, idea trwa wiecznie. A jednak ruch, zmiana – tożycie. Bezruch, stałość – to śmier ć. Leo musi zamknąć koło czasu, które przerwał,połą czyć oba końce, odzyska wtedy i siebie, i Ewę, a także uratuje świat.

St. Odilion, who had “established” All Souls’ Day are on the stretcher, carryingby The Future (with lowered eyes), the Present (looking straight at You)and the Past (with hood). Between them with – thin spirits carrying a stretcher.

OCENA PROJEKTU FILMOWEGO (wg kryteriów PISF)

Projekt „Szod” koncentruje się na dotknięciu, w języku filmowym, sprawnieprzemijają cych i leżą cych w sercu refleksji nad człowiekiem: ludzkiej świadomościi samoświadomości, możliwości prawdziwego poznania i relacji z drugim, istotyludzkich wyborów, natury uczuć wyższych (miłości), istoty i źródła zła.

Poniższe uwagi opierają się o schemat oceny projektu filmowego, stosowany przezPolski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej.

1. Walory artystyczne, poznawcze i etyczne.

a) Walory artystyczne.Kiedyś stawiano przed sztuką wysokie zadania – miała zbawiać ludzi i narody.Cel ten nie jest mrzonką . Film poprzez umiejętne operowanie symbolem i metafor ą ,

odniesienie do znanych i mniej znanych wydarzeń, tła historycznego i użycie liniifabularnej o dużej pojemności i nośności przekazu może w niehermetyczny sposóbopowiedzieć o sprawach podstawowych. Punkt niniejszy może zostać rozwiniętyw wielostronicowym eseju.

b) Walory poznawcze.Projekt „Szod”, choć jest projektem fabularnym bazują cym na fikcji, ma bogateodniesienia realistyczne, historyczne, antropologiczne, religijne, meta artystyczne:

- odniesienia realistyczne i historyczne (przykładowo: wojna i okupacje sowieckai niemiecka we Lwowie w latach 1939-42, sylwetki przedstawicieli słynnej na cały

świat lwowskiej szkoły matematycznej, postawy ludności w czasach wojny,fascynują ca historia lwowskich karmicieli wszy prof. Weigla, kulisy projektu budowybomby atomowej w Los Alamos, katastrofa w Czarnobylu),

- odniesienia antropologiczne (konstrukcja psychologiczna postaci, filozofia człowiekaukazana w filmie, szereg wą tków o charakterze archeokulturowym),

- odniesienia religijne (koegzystencja duchowości kilku wyznań w przedwojennymi wojennym Lwowie, religijne postawy postaci, symbolizm użyty w filmie),

- odniesienia metaartystyczne (refleksja nad sztuką samą w sobie, nawią zania do

znanych i mniej znanych arcydzieł).

c) Walory etyczne.Materia etyczna jest solą projektu. Historia opowiedziana w filmie bazuje nakoncepcji posiadają cej bogate odniesienia filozoficzne, przede wszystkim etyczne.Nawią zuje do koncepcji wolności człowieka Sorena Kierkegaarda, a takżepóźniejszej myśli egzystencjalnej, filozofii, doktryny a także gnozy chrześcijańskiej,personalizmu, filozofii dialogu (Martin Buber, Józef Tischner), judaizmu, chasydyzmu,kabały, niektórych szkół ezoterycznych.

2. Znaczenie dla kultury narodowej oraz umacniania tradycji polskiej i językaojczystego.

Znaczenie projektu dla polskiej kultury narodowej jest nie do przecenienia. Tłohistoryczne w filmie ukazuje przedwojenny polski Lwów, przede wszystkim

środowisko młodej inteligencji. W rolach drugoplanowych w filmie pojawiają się wybitni polscy uczeni i artyści: Stefan Banach, Stanisław Ulam (matematycy), migaTadeusz Boy-Żeleński, Leon Chwistek i inni.

Podstawowym tłem filmu jest życie wielokulturowej przedwojennej Polski, ujawniają się postawy narodowościowe w mieście na styku kultur i religii, Wschodu i Zachodu.Przedstawiony jest świat nieistnieją cy, a jednak decydują cy w pewnej mierze opolskiej świadomości narodowej, po części przechowywany w pamięci żyją cego jeszcze pokolenia, w znacznej mierze skazany na zapomnienie u młodszychPolaków.

Drugi aspekt to aspekt wojenny: próba oryginalnego dotknięcia sowieckieji niemieckiej okupacji, np. przypomnienie o hitlerowskiej zbrodni dokonanej nalwowskich profesorach, niezwykłej historii karmicieli wszy itd.

3. Wzbogacenie europejskiej różnorodności kulturalnej.

Tło i wydarzenia przedstawione w filmie są często zapomniane i pomijane w Europiei na świecie (przed wojną lwowscy uczeni a w szczególności matematycy mieli statusświatowy).

Różnorodność społeczna, narodowa i kulturowa przedwojennej Polski, oryginalneukazanie wą tku wojennego powinno zostać szerzej przypomniane i zaakcentowane,bez przesadnego popadania w martyrologię narodową , mesjanizm i fatalizm polski,który Europa już zna…

4. Warunki planistyczno-finansowe realizacji.

Prima facie projekt może zdawać się obliczony na wysoki budżet (tło historyczne,wojna, przeskoki czasowe, zdjęcia za granicą itd.). Tak jednak nie jest z kilkuwzględów.

Opowiedziana historia, choć niepozbawiona wą tku sensacyjnego, ma charakter w znacznej mierze symboliczny i kameralny. Człowiek – mikrokosmos i świat –makrokosmos opowiedziane są tutaj wielorakim spleceniem wą tków, metafor ą i nastrojem obrazu filmowego. Lokalizacje we Lwowie i na Ukrainie nie należą donajdroższych.

Ze względu na fikcyjny charakter historii, bior ą c pod uwagę pojawiają ce się w niejpostaci, stylizowane na autentyczne, nie ma potrzeby zakupu licencji do wspomnień czy innych utworów (np. wspomnień Stanisława Ulama „Przygody matematyka”).

Projekt ma w całości charakter oryginalny i autorski, a znajdują ce się w nimnawią zania nie przekraczają granic luźnej inspiracji.

OSOBY ZWIĄ ZANE Z PROJEKTEM

Autor : Mateusz Droba

Urodzony w sierpniu 1977 r. w Krakowie. Absolwent Wydziału Prawai Administracji UMCS w Lublinie, Filia w Rzeszowie. Wykładowca akademicki naWydziale Ekonomii Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego (w Katedrze Marketingu),a następnie na Wydziale Prawa i Administracji UR. Autor ogólnopolskiegopodr ęcznika prawniczego „Podstawy prawa”, pierwszego w nowatorskiej liniipodr ęczników graficznych. Twórca linii wydawniczej „Plansze Becka” wwydawnictwie prawniczo-ekonomicznym C.H. Beck. Autor kilkunastu artykułównaukowych z zakresu prawa administracyjnego, cywilnego, teorii i filozofii prawa orazetyki. Eseista.

Od roku 2002 niezależny filmowiec. Autor krótkometrażowych i średniometrażowychfilmów fabularnych, dokumentalnych oraz eksperymentalnych, nagradzanych w krajui za granicą . Reżyser, scenarzysta, dramaturg (sztuka multimedialna „Przedostatniseans Cut'a” nawią zują ca do monodramu S. Beckett'a, otrzymała pozytywną recenzję lektora w Laboratorium Dramatu Tadeusza Słobodzianka), autor zdjęć filmowych, montażysta filmowy, scenograf oraz prozaik (w przygotowaniu książkapsychologiczno-eseistyczna o współczesnych relacjach damsko-męskich wodniesieniu do filozofii Sorena Kierkegaarda). Obecnie rozwija scenariuszowo projekt„Szod”, sensacyjną , miłosną i apokaliptyczną historię międzywojennego Fausta –

lwowskiego matematyka. Jest pełnomocnikiem właścicieli praw autorskich orazkoproducentem adaptacji kultowego polskiego komiksu „Funky Koval”.

Autor grafiki: Dariusz Rygiel, malarz i rysownik, absolwent plastyki.

Niektóre inne osoby wspierają ce Projekt:

• Bogusław Polch, jeden z najwybitniejszych polskich artystów grafików, autor m.in. serii „Funky Koval”, „Wiedźmin”, „Ekspedycja”, „Kapitan Żbik” i wielu

innych dzieł literatury graficznej i komiksowej. Odznaczony br ą zową odznaką „Gloria Artis”.

• Prof. zw. dr hab. Arkadiusz Jadczyk, specjalista fizyki matematycznej,kwantowej i wielowymiarowej, publicysta, myśliciel, laureat NagrodyHumboldta, wybitny dydaktyk, humanista i propagator rozwoju duchowego.

• Scenarzysta, reżyser i pisarz Ben Hopkins, autor m.in. filmu „Szymon Mag”oraz jednego z moich ulubionych filmów, bezkompromisowego punkowo-anarchistyczno-teologiczno-kabalistyczno-mistyczno-gnostycznego filmu „9żywotów Tomasza Katza”.

Już we wczesnej młodości główny bohater „Szod” – Leo, dowiaduje się, że korzenie jego rodziny sięgają mityczno-baśniowej krainy, zwanej Chazarią .

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT “SZOD”(in english we may pronounced it “SHOD”;as this title will appear on european and worldwide editions)

Key words: the Second World War, magic, time, atomic bomb, mathematics, love, God,mystery, Lviv, Poland, the interwar period, history, martyrdom, psychology of relationship,philosophy, ethics, religion, surrealism, the fantastic, machine of time, split personalisty,Soren Kierkegaard, personalism, kabbalah, Judaism, the Jews, occupation, anecdotes.

The project is of conceptual character and it is going to be composed of three separate parts:

1) an essayistic and psychological book,2) a comic strip,

3) a feature film.

A key thread of "Szod" is a theme of man and woman relationship, and; moreprecisely, its evolution – its birth, stagnation, and re-birth. This theme is developed bythe book entitled “Prolegomena do dialektyki zwią zków miłosnych” [“Prolegomena to theDialectics of Love Relationships” ], which is now being prepared in a consistent and detailedway. This is going to be a paraphilosophical and psychological treatise; still, it is written witha great dose of irony, and with a clear and intelligible language. On the other hand - thefabule, the fictional story – naturally – are the subject of the “Szod” movie and comic book.

"Szod" project has got the following aspects:

1) Entertaining one (according to the maxim that one can be redeemed and entertained atthe same time. Although it is; prima facie, controversial; still, corresponding with an esotericrule of unity of the opposites, and the author’s belief that the matter of ethics and religiondoes not have to be gloomy, and the matter of philosophy is not necessarily difficult or dull).

2) Educational and therapeutic one (psychology of relationships, therapy of rejection, andtherapy of identity, affirmation and negation of change, dullness, and stability, personalitydialectics, empathy, narcissism, borderline personality disorders, egoism, and a real relationwith the other (seeing "the Self" – a neighbour’s face).

3) Philosophical and theological, as well as, esoteric one (among others, philosophy of

S. Kierkegaard, existentialism via Kantianism, ethics and metaethics, metapractice,noumenon and phenomenon, Christian personalism, Christian gnosis, micro - macro,doctrines of the East, occultism, gnosis, kabbalah and magic, eternal archetypes, psychologyof the depth, Jung and alchemy).

4) Ethical and psychological (development of the character etc. etc.).

5) Humorous (e.g. ironical rather than entertaining) ...indeed, I believe that there is nothingmore important in the universe, between man and woman, than the shared laughter – it iseven more important than sex. God, an important figure in “Szod”, has a sense of humour too; however, this issue brings about many possible theological doubts; for instance,concerning the so-called black humour.

„SHOD” SYNOPSIS(This is not standard movie synopsis, rather some kind of literar style presentationof main ideas, plots, characters and event in the history)

This movie tells a story, but the story splits and stops in it. A conflict is really alonging for a conflict, change, emotion, making the most of life and living with a braveheart being faithful to identity.

Lvov café, the 30s of the 20th century. A pianist plays „Por Una Cabeza” tango ina dignified manner. LEO, thirty-year-old scientist, mathematician, sits over a pile of small pieces of paper which are covered with formulas.He calculates Faust’s formula.

Six years earlier, he was wandering light-heartedly together with two of his friends:ULAM, who was also a mathematician and BOGOLUBOV, a chess player and bonvivant . They conversed till late hours, they considered the world’s and human’smysteries, they picked up girls and made stupid jokes.

Three years earlier, when he was head over heels in love with EWA he was also thehappiest man in the world. Now everything is gone. Their relationship has becomelifeless and Leo lives his dream of everlasting love. He has lost joy found beforein everyday relationships with Ewa; he is conscience-stricken, he starts to live onlythanks to his memories.

When he meets rabbi HOROWITZ (Wandering Jew), who came to Poland from

Australia, he considers him to be an eccentric and a gambler (salesman of decisiveness), since the old Jew; just for fun and taking advantage of mysteriousmethods, outplays city’s casinos for small amounts. In the course of time, rabbibecomes Leo’s mentor, he initiates him into arcane of Cabala; he inspires himto mathematically prove that time, change, and sequence are just illusions.Leo wants to stop time, create a formula for everlasting passion; he wants to joinpassion and conscious choice in a twinkling of an eye and forever in eternity.He wants to join rational choice with an irrational automatism (heart’s voice).Since Leo is incapable of forcing himself to do anything, he wants to gain a primarystate of being in love back – he can live only with passion of his heart.

There are heavy clouds of impending war above Europe. Leo finds the Formula;he tests it in a mysterious experiment, which disturbs space-time continuum.

The line of time splits and starts to run in two, alternative versions. In one of themLeo becomes a spendthrift who constantly chases novelty and who is condemnedto „hop, skip, and jump” to another passions; he parts with Ewa, drinks, and wanderswith strumpets. In the second version, he chooses a stability of values, he marriesEwa, but the true joy of life has died in him.

The war breaks out. Leo – a spendthrift, engages in conspiracy, an activity of theunderground; he gains desired adrenalin, unawareness of tomorrow. Leo – a staid

husband and father collaborates with an enemy, occupier to ensure safety to hisfamily.

Leo’s friend, Ulam, who has emigrated to USA, works in Los Alamos on atomic andthermonuclear bomb. Oppenheimer notes in his notebook: Now I am become death,the destroyer of worlds. Ulam writes: the fact that several signs drawn on a board canchange a course of human matters is a source of incessant astonishment for me.

One day Leo and Leo meet face to face, as enemies. In the heat of skirmish Leo killshis alter ego. There is the atomic mushroom exploding in the sky.The character of Leo merges into one again, he wakes up in Zona. Time transition. Chernobyl. Prypiat – an abandoned city, from which the citizens escaped after the nuclear power plant’sbreakdown within 5 minutes, leaving books and newspapers on pages which theyopened in a moment of the alarm; the frozen emptiness of city.

THE ASSESSMENT OF THE FILM PROJECT(according to the Polish Film Institute’s (PISF) criterion)

The “Szod” project focuses on touching, using the language of film, the matters thatdo not pass, but make the centre of the reflection on a human being: human

consciousness and self-consciousness, possibility of real cognition and relation withanother person, the essence of human choices, the nature of higher feelings (love),the essence and source of the evil.

The following remarks are based on a scheme of the film project’s assessment usedby the Polish Film Institute.

1. Artistic, cognitive and ethical values.

a) artistic values:

In the past, the art had to face high requirements – it was to amuse people andnations. This target is not a fancy. A film, through a skillful operating with a symboland a metaphor, references to known and lesser known events, historicalbackground, and using a narrative line with huge capacity and endurance of transmission, can tell about basic issues in a not airtight way. This point can bedeveloped in a multipage essay.

b) cognitive values: Although the “Szod” project is a fictional project, it has got rich realistic, historical,anthropological, religious and meta-art references:

- realistic and historical references (for instance: war, the Soviet and Germanoccupation of Lviv in 1939-42, silhouettes of the representatives of the world famousLviv school of mathematics, the attitudes of its civil population during the war, afascinating story of Lviv’s feeders of lice of professor Weigl, the wings of the projectof building a nuclear bomb in Los Alamos, the Chernobyl disaster),

- anthropological references (a psychological construction of characters, man’sphilosophy presented in the film, series of archeological and cultural threads),

- religious references (spiritual coexistence of several religions in pre-war and war Lviv, religious attitudes of the characters, symbolism of the film),

- meta-art references (reflection on art itself, reflections of known and lesser knownmasterpieces).

c) ethical values:The ethical issues are the essence of the project. The history told in the film is basedon the concept possessing profound philosophical relations, mainly ethical. It isconnected to the concept of human freedom by Soren Kierkegaard, and also thesubsequent existential thought, the Christian philosophy, doctrine, but also its gnosis,personalism, the philosophy of dialogue (Martin Buber, Józef Tischner), Judaism,Chasidism, Kaballah or some esoteric schools.

2. The meaning for the national culture and strengthening Polish tradition andlanguage.

The meaning of the project for Polish national culture is invaluable. The historicalbackground in the film presents pre-war Polish Lviv, mainly the environment of young

intelligentsia. The supporting cast were famous Polish academics and artists: StefanBanach, Stanisław Ulam (mathematicians), Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński, Leon Chwistekand others.

The basic background of the film is a life of multicultural pre-war Poland, the nationalattitudes are revealed in the city where cultures and religions of the East and Westmeet. The world presented does not exist – however, to some extent, it does shapePolish national awareness, partly held in memory of the still living generation, andgreatly deemed to be forgotten by younger Poles.

The other aspect is the issue of war: an attempt to touch, in an original way, the

Soviet and German occupation, e.g. to recall the Nazi atrocity against the professorsof Lviv, unusual history of the feeders of lice, etc.

3. The enrichment of the European cultural diversity.

The background and events presented in the film are often forgotten or omittedin Europe and across the world (before the war, the academics and; especially,the mathematicians of Lviv, were worldwide famous).

Social, national and cultural diversity of pre-war Poland and an original demonstrationof the war thread should be widely reminded and highlighted without an inordinatenational martyrdom, Polish messianism and fatalism that are known in Europe.

4. Planning and financial conditions of the project.

Prima facie, the budget of the project may seem to be planned as quite considerable(historical background, war, time jumps, photos taken abroad, etc.). However, this isnot the case for several reasons.

The story, although not deprived of a sensational thread, is generally symbolical andintimate in its character. A man – microcosmos and the world – macrocosmos, are

said through a multiple intertwining threads, metaphor, and the spirit of the film.Locations in Lviv and Ukraine are not the most expensive.

Because of the fictional character of the story and taking into account its characterswho are to look very genuinely, there is no need to buy a license to haveremembrances, or other works (e.g. memoires of Stranisław Ulam “Adventuresof a mathematician”).

The project is completely original and the references included do not cross theborders of loose inspiration.

CIEKAWOSTKI (CURIOSITIES) – „SZOD” (SHOD) – TITLE

Nazwa projektu „Szod” wzięła się z pewnej anegdoty, przytaczanej przez MartinaBubera w powieści „Gog i Magog”. Gdy w hebrajskim imieniu Bożym: Szaddaj(Wszechmogą cy) zabraknie malutkiej literki, nieznacznej, przypominają cej przecinek(literki "jod") powstaje „szod”, co znaczyć może: spustoszenie, zniszczenie, a takżenapad rabunkowy, grabież, rabunek, rozbój. Przyszło mi na myśl (najpierw ustalają c,iż chodzi o imię mocy "Wszechmogą cy), że ten malutki punkcik to punkt miłosierdzia,utrzymują cy wszechmoc Bożą , która inaczej zniszczyła by nieposkromioną potęgą Stworzenie. Siła tej metafory jest wg mnie tak duża i bezpośrednio odnosi się do

głównego tematu naszej historii, że postanowiłem uczynić z niej wą tek tytułowy.Opinia specjalisty z zakresu jęz. hebrajskiego:„Jeśli od słowa szaddaj odejmiemy jod, to zostanie szin i dalet (szod – przemoc,dewastacja, zniszczenie, rozbój itp.). Jeśli chodzi o szaddaj, to etymologia tegoimienia jest bardzo trudna do określenia, słowo wyprowadza się od różnych rdzeni,z których najbardziej przekonywają cym wydaje się akadyjskie šadu – góra

(W.F. Albright). El Szaddaj oznaczałoby „Boga góry”. Na podstawie starożytnychprzekładów (Septuaginta, Wulgata) imię najczęściej tłumaczy się jako „BógWszechmocny”.

(ENG) The name of the “Szod” project came from an anecdote cited by Martin Buber in thenovel “Gog and Magog”. When in the Hebrew name of God: Shaddai (Almighty), alittle, minor letter, similar to coma is missing (letter “yod”), we have “shod”, which maymean: devastation, destruction, as well as, robbery, mugging. It struck my mind(first setting that it is about the name of power “Almighty”) that this little point is apoint of mercy, which sustains God’s omnipotence that otherwise would destroy theCreation with the ungovernable power. The potential of this metaphor is so big to meand relates directly to the theme of our story that I decided to make this thread thetitle.Opinion of a specialist in Hebrew:“If in the word “shaddai” we skip yod, we will have shin and dalet (shod – violence,devastation, destruction, robbery, etc.). When shaddai is concerned, its etymologyis very difficult to be pinpointed, the word is derived from many cores, from which the

most convincing seems to be the Acadian šadu – a mountain (W.F. Albright).El Shaddai would mean the ”God of the mountain”. Basing on ancient translations

(the Septuagint, Vulgata), the name is most often translated as “God Almighty”.

Weigla we Lwowie Instytucie Badań nad TyfusemPlamistym i Wirusami, w czasie okupacji niemieckiej jako karmiciele wszy zatrudnianibyli, pozbawieni innych środków do życia, liczni lwowscy inteligenci (także np.matematyk Stefan Banach). Zatrudnienie w instytucie dawało specjalną ochronę,możność swobodnego poruszania się po mieście, a co się z tym wiąże, stwarzało

możliwość działalności konspiracyjnej.

In the Exanthematous Typhus and Virus Research Institute, founded in Lviv duringthe German occupation by professor R. Weigl, many poor representatives of Lvivintelligentsia were employed as feeders of lice (e.g. mathematician Stefan Banach).Being employed in the Institute provided special protection and possibility of

uninhibited walking in the city, and at the same time, it was an opportunity for theconspiracy.

from any country, especially from country involved in SHOD MOVIE main themes,

history, and locations.

Firstly, we are interested in a cash investment, to cover expenditures

provided in preliminary SHOD MOVIE BUDGET. The very first, tentative budget You

can find below.

Some special info about “BTL” movie income (material and non –

material, human values worth, as author believe, sources.

Some of them are widely known and become a standard (personalised Internet and

mobile devices distribution, personalised games and correspondence, collectible

materials etc.etc. ), some others, however, remain confidential. Until negotiation with

possible Investor or co – producer seriously starts we cannot reveal more about this

matter. It’s because it contains some original and unusual SHOD PROJECT

solutions, accompanied by original strategies, some kind of “gadgets” and social

gatherings. This few words above might sound a bit weird and mysterious, but,

SHOD PROJECT MOVIE are planned as a bit weird and more than a bit mysterious

one..

What we may write down now - in this prospect that the New Demiurg Industries

& Mr Mateusz Droba copyrighted, will be executing many non - standard promotion

and marketing solutions, especially concerning making the multi – linked large

audience “net” friendly with some type of social hierarchy; “nests” and “lodges”

to establish strong (but simultaneously flexible) multilevel and multifaceted

connection between popular culture and so – called “sophisticated high –culture”.

In our case, it will be requiring an intuitive skillful mind, rather than encyclopedic

knowledge and “smart-ass” nerds. SHOD material is reach in sensational & magical,

as well as, mystery and suspense plots (?) together with ethical and other kind

humanistic values, with substantial very original plots, created by author, Mr Mateusz

This solutions are possible thanks to deep theoretical knowledge (especially

exact branches of philosophy, psychology, aesthetics and ethics, cognitive science,

management and marketing science; together with law science), practical several

topics, practical studies and filmmaking knowledge and experience (see author short

biography and people connected with project section). We cannot forget here about

our invaluable Project SHOD friends – who are very, very helpful and generous at the

stage of gathering info and consulting author knowledge and doubts in many cases

of scientific, historical and other nature. The short list of our “first” friend is (and will

be expanded soon) on the project website, and is presented in this project in

shortened version.

One of the tag lines for this confidential, post–premier, New Demiurg Industries

policy part, sounds: “The main aim of art – from the beginning – is to solve and save

& to amuse and brave” humans (we have untranslatable world – game, in fact, from

SHOD original language – Polish, which sounds: “jedocześnie (simultaneously)

INVESTMENT & CO – PRODUCTION PROPOSAL

Rules are simple:

I. Cash Investor

1) cash benefits: depending on how much % of total budget potential Investor

will assure before shooting starts (or, decide to invest in development phase) –

with the same % the Investor will participate in any movie income including

national and international theatrical distribution, DVD (Blu-Ray) distribution, TV

distribution (distributable “cash”), etc. Etc., or – last, but not necessary least –

income from special “BTL” movie income sources.

Gross/net income: We have decided, to describe the gross – net income

as simple as it could be presented. Gross income, defining the gross income from

any source, before paying all post-movie delivery expenditures, such as taxes,

distribution, marketing and promotion costs, royalties, some reserve for

unexpected expenses, etc.etc. – all of this will be a subject of post – delivery

SHOD FINANCIAL REPORT.

2) non – material benefits:

Any Cash Investor, who puts into budget at least 10000 USD will be credited

as Executive Producer and will appear (as name, firm or logo) in opening

movie titles.

Such benefits like special movie Blu-Ray copies, invitation to ceremonial

movie premiere, set of movie promotional materials are obvious.

In artistic matters - influence (f.e. cast, final script version etc. etc.) and

production executive management (shooting, postproduction) – scale of

Investor “voice power” will be a subject to individual negotiations between

Investor and SHOD MOVIE author&director, founder of New Demiurg

Industries – Mr Mateusz Droba.

II. Non - Cash Investor (Co – Producer)

We invite All of You, who want to be a “no cash input” co – producers of

SHOD MOVIE – to bring any other kind of contribution to the film. In that case,

individual negotiations between Investor and SHOD MOVIE author&director

SHOD FEATURE MOVIE BUDGET

Below we present preliminary, simplified budget of SHOD FEATURE MOVIE.

Almost everything in this budget may be subjected to change by author or through

negotiations.

Note that some expenses are extremely low, comparing to professional

mainstream market. This feature movie, with historical and fantastical background

could be so “cheap” thanks to our excellent (Mr Mateusz Droba and friends) and

friend – based connections to professional equipment owners, professional actors,

very good unprofessional ones, we have friends in main, Lvov, Ukrainian locations

and worldwide class professional post – production CGI (compositing) specialist and

equipment.

The SHOD MOVIE has to be a large audience, original, independent movie,

with theatrical release as 1st distribution way. However, if it is national distribution,

Eastern Europe countries distribution or worldwide – it will strongly depend on movie

international reception (especially important festival and critic reception) and first box

office results in the country of premiere.

This preliminary budget contains ONLY VERY MAIN preproduction

(development), production and postproduction costs, without any promotion,

marketing and distribution expenditures.
