Sub: KVS Social Science Exhibition –cum-National Integration Camp - 2011.

Sir/Madam,

In continuation to this letter of even no. dated 10.03.2011 on the subject cited above, it is hereby informed that Social Science Exhibition-cum-National Integration Camp is slated to be held from 08th

to 09th November 2011 at Kendriya Vidyalaya Aliganj, Lucknow (Lucknow Region). In response to this letter we received some clarification in Annexure III regarding state and country, which has individually been clarified but now the list is once again enclosed for your ready reference. The cluster and regional level of exhibition should be conducted by 1st week of November 2011.

The Assistant Commissioner of the host region i.e. Lucknow Region will make all necessary planning and arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event. Expenditure as per approved budget will be reimbursed by the KVS(HQ) to Lucknow Region.

The Regional contingent shall comprise of maximum 32 students. The Regional contingent shall be escorted by a maximum of 03 teachers (one language teacher/other subjects, one music teacher and one teacher with Humanities background; at least one of these must be a lady teacher), one Group D employee who should be a male, who can help in arranging exhibits and making small electrical connections etc. The regional contingent will reach the venue latest by the afternoon of 07th November 2011. The exhibits will be arranged by 07th November 2011 (A/N) so that exhibition scheduled for 08th

November 2011 morning does not get delayed. The return journey should not be planned before 08.30 p.m. of 09th November 2011.

The exhibits will remain on display till afternoon of 09th

November 2011 so that minimum 200 students from neighboring KV’s of Lucknow Region may be allowed to see the exhibits to inculcate a national perspective. Assistant Commissioner, Lucknow can fix the time for each school to avoid overcrowding at the exhibition venue.

Debate

The topic for English/Hindi debates has already been intimated.

Each region will sponsor two speakers one ‘for’ and the other ‘against’ the motion separately for Hindi and English. The debate will be of 05 minute duration of which minimum 01 minute MUST BE devoted to rebuttal and repartee. The first two speakers; one ‘for’ and the other ‘against’ the motion will be given only four minutes and one minute at the end for their share of rebuttal and repartee. The first Speaker speaking for the motion will be given one minute for rebuttal after all the speakers have spoken. The division of marks for the debate will be as follows:

Content - 30 Presentation - 40 Rebuttal & Repartee - 30 (No marks will be allowed

if rebuttal part is left untouched)

(Logic, thought process, pronunciation, flavour, confidence)

The aim of the exercise is to discourage cramming and to encourage spontaneous speaking.

Group Dance

Group Dance to be presented by the Region must be related to the State/Country allotted to the Region. Maximum time allowed for the dance will be 06 (six) minutes including the announcement. Number of participants allowed on the stage will be six to eight besides six persons including the Music Teacher for background music and song. No person from outside KV will be allowed to play/sing. Pre-recorded cassette or any other recorded device will not be allowed. The group dance being presented will be performed in the costume of the Place/State concerned. Marks allotted for dance is detailed below:-

Group Song

Duration of the Group Song will be 4-5 minutes including the announcement. The number of participants allowed on the stage will be 6-8 besides 04 persons including the Music Teacher for background music. The group song may be in Hindi or in the language of the State/Country allotted to the Region. The theme of the song may be patriotism, national integration, Social Cohesion, Youth/women empowerment or the folklores of the State/Country. The division of marks will be as under:-

Costume - 20Theme - 20Harmony - 20Melody - 20Background Music - 20

The announcement of Song/Dance should not take more than 15 seconds.

Quiz

Quiz will be another regular feature of the Social Science Exhibition. The quiz will be conducted in English and the theme will be “Swami Vivekananda – Life and Achievements”. It will be in two rounds . The preliminary round will be a written round in which maximum five students from every region will participate. Four top scoring teams will qualify for the final round. In the final round, the selected team will be represented by two students of the concerned region. The quiz will be verbal with audio & visual round.

Skit

There will be a one act play/skit on any theme related to social issues (i.e. issues related to gender, population, health environment, education etc.) and the language will be English and or Hindi. The duration of the skit will be 10 to 12 minutes and this item will be covered on first two days between 6 and 8 pm. The venue Principal should ensure proper light and sound arrangement for the event based on the requirement of the skit. The concerned regions are advised in their own interest, to keep the stage resources and requirements to the minimum. Basic stage materials will be provided by the venue Principal. The best skit selected by region will be sponsored for the Nationals.

While selecting students the AC/EO/Principal/Incharge teacher should select the students on the suggested guidelines.

In no case, the number of students as specified above (32) should exceed nor any extra escort other than specified need be sent. During the evening programme at Lucknow participants should be encouraged to wear their Regional/State costume, but during Exhibition school uniform will be the dress code. The children will be taken for local sight seeing also. The Assistant Commissioner/Principal may arrange for their visits on the request of the region and availability of time.

The Social Science Exhibition MUST be held at school, cluster and regional level. Selection of students, team and exhibits must be made judiciously, Parents, Neighboring schools, Important local personalities be invited for the Exhibition being organized at school, cluster and Regional level. The Social Science Exhibition at all levels must be conducted with enthusiasm and earnestness, so that the aim and objective of the event is fully realized.

The advance information is given to students to prepare Models/Charts/Albums in time. This will facilitate teachers and students to start preparation right away for quality participation at the Social Science Exhibition. The Social Science Teachers and students are to be encouraged to make use of the summer vacation to collect references/articles/materials etc. for the event.

The school level exhibition should be conducted as Inter Class Competition. The PGTs and TGTs of Humanities group, preferable Social Science should be allotted duties through an Office Order and this should be recorded in the Self Appraisal Part II of the APAR for the year 2011-12 of the teacher who is contributing towards the preparation for the aforesaid competition. It is expected that school level competition should be conducted in a befitting manner. The details regarding the National Venue and Date will be intimated at a later date, i.e., in the month of July, 2011. School level Social Science Exhibition is to be held compulsorily in every KV.

You are requested to intimate the name of the Education Officer In-charge of Regional Level Social Science Exhibition. Allotment of State, Country, Topics for debate and allotment of Dance is given at Annexure – I, II & III.
