Hayward MobilehomeOwners Assn, Inc. - A History
The Hayward Mobilehome Owners association wasfounded in 1979 by the late Vincent M. Haertel, acommunity leader and resident of Spanish Ranch IMobilehome Park. Mr. Haertel realized the need tobring Haywards nine mobile home parks togetherunder one organization in order to successfully defend, protect and preserve our unique lifestyle as we are both
home owners as well as renters.
HMOA, Inc. is incorporated under Californias MutualBenefit Non-Profit Corporation Law. Additionally,HMOA has also attained Federal tax exemption sta-tus and is registered with Callfbmias Department ofJustice, Registry of Charitable Trusts.
In the early 1980s Mr. Haertel and other mobilehome park leaders worked closely with the City ofHayward to create our Citys Mobilehome Space RentStabilization Ordinance to protect park residents fromunfair rent practices. Several enhancements to thisordinance have been enacted in the past decade such asa mandatory meet and confer which was instituted to
streamline the arbitration process should a park ownerwish to pass through additional costs beyond the allow-able rent. And meet and confer can save residents theenormous expense of legal council.
HMOA, Inc. holds five general meetings per year andwe rotate meeting venues throughout our nine parks. We break during the Summer months. As the primarypurpose of HMOA is the sharing and exchange of infor-mation, a portion of every meeting is devoted to OpenForum. This is where park residents can communicateconcerns and sometimes a resident from another parkhas experienced a similar encounter and can be ofassistance in resolving the issue. We also have guestspeakers at our meetings who speak on a variety of
subjects from Spectrum offerings to emergency pre-paredness concerns.
To support this theme, we created a website atwww.hmoa.net. which gives mobile home residents agreat deal of information concerning our very uniquelifestyle. The website also features a useful referencesection which addresses general concerns and who tocontact for information on many topics. Additionally,www.hmoa.net provides updates on Municipal andState legislation as it pertains to mobilehome living. The website also features an e-mail address wheremobilehome residents can communicate and receiveanswers to questions and concerns.
Annual dues is only $5.00 per household and anyamount donated in excess is placed in HMOAs legalfund. So, please consider joining us on Saturday,January 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Spanish Ranch IMobilehome Park and share your concerns. Or, justcome by to enjoy some coffee and donuts with membersof your mobilehome community.
By working together we CAN and ARE making adifference.
Very sincerely yours,
THE HAYWARD MOBILEHOME OWNERSASSOCIATION, Inc. STEERING COMMITTEE

be prepared to pick up after youranimals.
As the spring comes upon usafter the winter, we are all readyto enjoy the out of doors with aBBQ with family and friends. RE-MEMBER, in order to use the BBQat the main club house, you MUSTsubmit a request to reserve theBBQ area. This is that same pro-cedure if you were reserving theclub house for an event.
Mr. Gs Corner.
Guillermo has been working
very hard at keeping the soundwall at the entrance clear of thegraffiti over the past months. Itappears that a new gang taghas been added to the usual.
Mr. G has enlisted the help ofa civic group working in conjunc-
tion with the City of Hayward thathelps stamp out the gang tag-ging.
With this new collation withthe City of Hayward, we nowhave a standard paint mix that isused by Guillermo and the City.
Guillermo says that enforce-ment is the key. Please feel freeto call the Hayward Police bydialing their non emergency line(510.293.7000) and report any-one that you might see taggingthe area.
The rear gate has been dam-aged twice in the last 45 days.Once, someone drove into thekeypad going out and anothertime it appears that someonepurposefully broke the chain.
Guillermo has been workingon the street lights though outthe park. If you notice a streetlight that is not working properly, please take note of its locationand make the office aware.

Comedy Corner contributed by S. Higman (no. 189)(most copyright info unknown - web-exchange)
Kindergarten teacher
A Kindergarten teacher was observing herclassroom of children while they were draw-ing. She would occasionally walk around to seeeach childs work. As she got to one little girlwho was working diligently, she asked what
the drawing was. The girl replied, Im drawing God.
The teacher paused and said, But no one knows what Godlooks like.
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, They will in a minute.
Noisy Parrot
So theres this man with a parrot. And
his parrot swears like a sailor, I meanhes a pistol. He can swear for five min-
utes straight without repeating himself.
The trouble is that the guy who owns the
parrot is a quiet, conservative type, and
this birds foul mouth is
driving him crazy.
One day, it gets to be too
much, so the guy grabs
the bird by the throat,
shakes him really hard,
and yells, QUIT IT! But this just makes
the bird mad and he swears more than
ever.
Then the guy gets mad and says,
Thats it. Ill get you. and locks the bird
in a kitchen cabinet.
This really aggravates the bird and he
claws and scratches, and when the guy
finally lets him out, the bird cuts loose
with a stream of invective that would
make a veteran sailor blush.
At that point, the guy is so mad that he
throws the bird into the freezer. For the
first few seconds, there is a terrible din.
The bird kicks and claws and thrashes.
Then it suddenly goes very quiet.
At first the guy just waits, but then he
starts to think that the bird may be hurt.
After a couple of minutes of silence, hes
so worried that he opens up the freezer
door.
The bird calmly climbs onto the mansoutstretched arm and says, Awfully
sorry about the trouble I gave you. Ill do
my best to improve my vocabulary from
now on.
The man is astounded. He cant under-
stand the transformation that has come
over the parrot.
Then the parrot says, By the way, what
did the chicken do?
Ever wonder?

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
On behalf of the AlamedaCounty Community Food Bankand the people we serve, I ex-tend a heartfelt thank you to LosRancheros Charities for your col-lection of 1433 pounds. Throughyour General Food Drive 2010, youprovided 1102 meals to deservingchildren, adults and families in Al-

ber agencies in the community, including soup kitchens, food pan-tries and child-care centers the Al-ameda County Community FoodBank provides food assistance toover 49,000 people each week,43% of whom are children.
Food drives play a major role inkeeping our shelves stocked withthe nutritious food our agenciesneed. In this difficult economy,low-income families are really
struggling and are reaching outto the Food Bank in unprecedent-ed numbers. As layoffs and homeforeclosures continue to makeheadlines, the Food Bank is intro-duced to the new face of hunger- hundreds of clients who neversought help previously are turningto us now.
We look forward to working withyou in the future to provide nutri-tious food to thousands of lowin-come children and adults in Al-ameda County.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Yeah for Mr. CleanEraser!
Recenty someone wrotethe gate code on the backentrance key pad and theemergency box. I immedi-
ately drove to my house andgot my Mr. Clean Eraser. Itremoved the marker with noproblem. Mr. Clean Eraseris wonderful. If you havenot tried it, you should. Iteven takes Sharpie markeroff the kitchen floor, but thatis another story!
Also I encourage every-one to not tell the code tothose stranded at the gate, but rather put the code in
for them. If you ever seethe code written anywhereon the gate, please call theManagement.
Another use for Windex
Do you have a carpet stainthat regular carpet cleanerscannot remove? Our churchdid, for more than 5 years.Over the years, they hadtried all kinds products. Ona friends recommendation,I tried Windex on the stain. It worked! Just spray on andwipe.
The makers of Windexwould never tell anyone tospray it on carpet, but itworks! Generic or other brandglass cleaners will not work.It must be Windex.
