First report of Henoch Schoenlein purpura in anelderly patient: case report
20 days after the second course of antineoplastic therapycomprising cisplatin, ifosfamide and vindesine for primarylung adenocarcinoma, a 76-year-old man was diagnosed withHenoch Schoenlein purpura.
Following treatment with prednisolone, the non-thrombocytopenic purpura and the abdominal symptomsdisappeared. As the steroid dosage was decreased, proteinuriaand haematuria decreased. Purpura and abdominal pains didnot recur.
Author comment: Henoch Schonlein purpura associatedwith antineoplastic therapy has not previously been reported. While the relationship with this therapeutic regimen is notproven, the appearance of the symptoms after the secondcourse of treatment would indicate a cause and effectrelationship.Murayama J-i, et al.
