Reactions 1351 - 14 May 2011 S Antineoplastics Ischaemic stroke: 2 case reports A retrospective study identified two women [ages not stated] who developed an ischaemic stroke during chemotherapy with epirubicin or CMF(cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, fluorouracil) for early stage breast cancer [patient outcomes not stated]. Patient 1 started receiving IV epirubicin 100 mg/m 2 every 3 weeks. During cycle 4, she experienced an ischaemic stroke. She was hospitalised and received low-dose aspirin. Patient 2 started receiving IV epirubicin 100 mg/m 2 every 3 weeks for 4 cycles followed by CMF chemotherapy, consisting of IV cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m 2 , IV methotrexate 40 mg/m 2 and IV fluorouracil 600 mg/m 2 on day 1 and 8 every 4 weeks. During cycle 8, she experienced an ischaemic stroke. She was hospitalised and received low-dose aspirin. Nolan L, et al.
