ANEMIA Anemia can happen in many people especially in mostly women. Anemia is the one factor causes of mother and children death. But we can prevent it with adequate of micronutrient intake such as Fe . What is anemia ? Anemia is a condition that develops when your blood lacks enough healthy red  blood cells. These cells are the main transporters of oxygen to organs. If red  blood cells are also deficient in hemoglobin, then your body isn't getting enough oxygen. Symptoms of anemia -- like fatigue -- occur because organs aren't getting what they need to function properly. Who is at risk of suffered from anemia ? Many people are at risk for anemia because of poor diet, intestinal disorders, chronic diseases, infections, and other conditions. Women who are menstruating or pregnant and people with chronic medical conditions are most at risk for this disease. The risk of anemia increases as people grow older. People who engage in vigorous athletic activities, such as  jogging or basketball, may develop anemia as a result of red blood cells  breaking down in the bloodstream. How is anemia detected ? Anemia can be detected by a simple blood test. Most causes can be diagnosed by analysis of blood samples and by e xamination of the blood cells under a microscope. When you have anemia, your body lacks oxygen, so you may experience one or more of the following symptoms: weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, fast or irregular heartbeat,  pounding or “whooshing” in your ears, headache, cold hands or feet, pale or yellow skin, chest pain. What causes anemia ? Hemorrhage, the major cause of anemia is bleeding. Anemia can become severe when there is loss of blood following an accident, major surgery, or cesarean section during childbirth. Most common anemic conditions that result from chronic or long-term bleeding are recurrent nose bleeds, untreated chronic hemorrhoids, excessive menstruation, stomach ulcers,  bleeding caused by tumors in the kidney or bladder. Which food and nutrient prevent anemia ?

Most cases of anemia due to iron deficiency which can cause fatigue and

headaches. Healthy and varied nutrition can help prevent anemia. Foods

that can help prevents anemia :

• Food rich in vitamin B12, especially in animal foods such as meat, fish, fruit and sea percent fewer eggs and cheese. Absolute

herbivores usually suffer from anemia because of resources not to

use vitamin B12.

• Foods rich in iron, iron in the production of hemoglobin is a

protein that carries oxygen involved. Meanwhile, there is also iron

in red meat and liver are important for the body but must use iron

sources also noted that several sources such as increased blood

cholesterol. Raisins are also sources of iron but also iron, it is not

absorbed by the body. Therefore, we recommend to animal sources

of iron rich together or with intake of vitamin C to be absorbed better.

• Foods rich in vitamin C, vegetables such as broccoli and peppers

and citrus fruits are a source of vitamin C to help absorb iron

better. Several studies have shown that when vitamin C together

with phytate-rich foods like spinach are taking up the level of iron

absorption.

• Foods rich in vitamins, plateau or plateau B RBC proliferation and

increase oxygen delivery to tissue. But if people are not classified

in this group, or because being pregnant does not need the cereal a

day, can consume green leafy vegetables.

Facts About Anemia

The word anemia is Greek for "without blood."

Anemia is a common problem for menstruating women because their iron supplies are depleted monthly.

In young children, marrow in all the bones produces red blood cells. As a person ages, red blood cells are eventuallyproduced only in the marrow of the spine, ribs, and pelvis.

The life span of a red blood cell is between 90 and 120 days.

Old red blood cells are removed from the blood by the liver and spleen, and the iron is returned to the bone marrow tomake new cells.
