GREETINGS
FROM
AMBAN
We rust
that

many o s i t i v e signs
of blessings
and peace.
1983 brought many hanges for us but
we
re
able to see God's leading in our
ministry in
PapuaNew Guinea. Although
the
move ac k

in April
was d i f f i c u l t and the
obstacles
were
numerous
we settled in very
w e l l . Our

know
t won't

that

the
only

we
can
complete
the job we

As wemove

our faith

as we

to do exceeding
abundantly beyond a l l

Moreover,
we

It s imperative
that
we chieve luency before

that upo

This has been one of
those difficult
decisions
that
we ave to make rom tim

I n
summary,
w e ' l l go a l l
the
way
back
to
January
and
dentify a few high spots
to
get
caught up .
We
had our
annual
meeting in
Madang
n
January. The best
part
about the annual
meeting
was
that
my brother
Dave and
his
family
stayed
with us, so we ot
to v i s i t a
o t
with them during the
meeting.
Of ourse,we
also conducted some ery necessary business.
One of
PBT's board members, Geo
C a r i l l e t , from the States,came ver to
a
the meeting. While he
was
here he l e d
very meaningful

advantage
of the few
in Madang to
do
some
repairs and cle
work
on
the residence
that
PBT

Our ext move urned out to be
one
we
not expected
o
make. Months

received information about a

We
had
dismisse
p o s s i b i l i t y of going because we had tho
that t

Also,
we
ooked

there wasnow pace.
So
we lew

Since Bonita

out n

working
with
the

the boys got to bed, I
would
go over
the
morning l e c t u r e s
with
Bonita.
There was
a
l i t t l e time, on the
weekends,
for some
relaxation.
Wewak asa errific beach
which
the
boys
and
mom
and
pop
were
able
to
take
advantage f.
We
eturned
toSamban
he second
week of
March. We ere
very
eager
o incorporate
the
new technics we had learned from the course.
We lso
f e l t
thatsome
of the
insights gained
would
help
us
n
our t t i t u d e toward language
learning. So,
selected
two anguage helpers
and we egan to f a c i l i t a t e the

We have been into
this

for six
months
now
and have seen
much
progress
(PTL),
and
have
seen
changes
in
the

attitudes
toward us. Now,
he people
rarely

bec ause they
expect
us o converse

And
our tongues

Botin
a heavy
tongue means
speaking with an

We t i l l havea

John

of
he i l l a g e s , as i e has been
going
around r e c i t i n g
his
t e x t , practicing Botin with
people.
Besides
our
language learning,
we
have
continued with our
Bible memory
lass. We
are
using various verses
and
nly
doing
one a
week. However,
t
has really proved
to
be
a
great
blessing
f o r
us a l l .
For
one, the
folks
here are seeing thatGod's word
can

Since Christianity

Since

Even Jesse remarked
later that they

Jesse

also deliver a

across
the s t r e e t . If you want more
d e t a i l s , write t o Bonita.
I
got going again
after about four or five
days.
Later on n
July, we
eceived another guest
from the States, leanor Daniel,a
PBT

Member. Besides wanting to familiarize
herself
with the i e l d ,
she also brought along
some achievement
e s t s
to help us know how
the boys are g e t t i n g along with
t h e i r
education. Well,
Joshua
will
really
just start

he

very w e l l and we

very
proud
of im. And t

We
had
a very good time getting to know
Eleanor.
On he day Eleanor

another
group
of i s i t o r s : Rond al Smith
(PBT's

we
are
g r a t e f u l

the whole thing organized.
Karen
