Preliminarynotes

Pursuant to the Article 37 of the Low onCensus of Population, Households and

DwellingsinBosniaandHerzegovinain 2013.

(Official Gazette 20/12 and 18/13), the BiH

Agency for Statistics and entity statistical

officesareobliged toreleasethepreliminary

result of the 2013 Census of Population,

Households and Dwellings in Bosnia and

Herzegovina (hereinafter: theCensus)within

90daysofthecompleted enumeration.

TheBiHAgencyforStatisticspursuanttotheArticle19, item6of the Lawon Censusof

Population,HouseholdsandDwellings inBiH

2013 (Official Gazette 20/12 and 18/13)

releasesthestatisticalresultsoftheCensusat

BiH, entity, Brcko District, cantonal and

municipal levels.Theentity statisticaloffices

shall release the preliminary results of the

Censusat the lower levelsof territorialunits

(settlements).

The preliminary results are usually prepared

immediately after the completed Census and

aimedat meetingthe interestsofprofessional

and generalpublicinbasicdataonthenumber

of population, households and dwellings and

represent framework data on a number and

territorial distribution of enumeration units(persons, households and dwellings). They are

limited intheircontentandwerecomputedby

summingupthefirstresults(ontheP3form

ControlBook)atthe lowestterritorialunitthat

is,enumerationarea (EA).Then, the resultsat

the EA level were aggregated at the higher

territorial units that is, at the level of

settlements, towns/municipalities, cantons,

entities, Brcko District and Bosnia and

Herzegovina.

Thepreliminary resultsare subject to changes

duringthestatisticaldataprocessing.Thefinal

results of the Census shall be published

successively after completed data processing

that is, intheperiodfrom1July2014to1July

2016.

Inparticular,pleasenotethatthetotalnumber

of enumeratedpersons does not refer to the

total resident population of Bosnia andHerzegovina.Thetotalnumberofpopulationin

BosniaandHerzegovinashallbepublishedwith

thefinalCensusresults.

The Article 7 of the Law on Census of

Population, Households and Housing (Official

Gazette 10/12and18/13) clearlydefines the

personstobeincludedinand/orexcludedfrom

the totalpopulation of aparticular territorial

unit.

The Census preliminary results shall containsdata on the total number of enumerated

persons, the total number of households

(excluding collective) and the total number of

dwellings(excludingcollective).

Data on the total number of enumerated

persons refers to allpersonsfor whom the

PersonalQuestionnaire (P1form)wasfilled

in.

Given the fact that it could has happened

that the samepersonwas included twice in

the preliminary results that is, first in the

settlementwherehis/herhouseholdlivesand

second in a place he/she works or studies,

this double enumeration shall be eliminated

intheCensusfinalresultsafterthecompleted

dataprocessing.

According to the preliminary results of the

Census in Bosnia and Herzegovina the total

numberofenumeratedpersons is3.791.622,

out of which: in the Federation of BiH

2.371.603 persons; in the Republika Srpska

1.326.991persons, and in BD B&H 93.028

persons.
