    Control button

Main functionsControlling the TRIP COMPUTER is simple despite the volume of data itprovides. All the functions are controlled by a single button located below thedisplay. All six main functions are called up in rotation by repeated pressingof the button. The control button is divided into two (left & right-hand) sides.By pressing the right-hand side you can switch forward one function whilethe left-hand side serves to switch one function back.

Second-level functionsOther TRIP COMPUTER functions are designed as second-level functionswhich can be called up by pressing and holding down the control button forat least two seconds, regardless of the part of the button pressed. Thesecond-level functions are used very rarely. The computer is normallycontrolled by main functions during standard operation.

    Audio indicator

The pressing of each button is accompanied by a short beep, unless theaudio indicator is switched off. Another beep is generated when the buttonis pressed and held down for 2 seconds indicating switching over to asecond level function.

    Last function memory

When the cars ignition is switched on, the computer displays the function

which was used last before the ignition was switched off at the end of theprevious journey. Function changes made with the ignition off are not storedin the memory.

    Displayed data

    Current fuel consumption

Displaying the current fuel consumption works in two modes, depending onthe current speed. The current consumption in litres per hour (l/h) isdisplayed at speeds of up to 32 km/h and in litres per 100 kilometres(l/100km) at speeds over 32 km/h. The value is displayed with an accuracyof one decimal place at the rate of 0.0 - 70.0 l/h or l/100km.

NOTE:The consumption of an idling engine is approximately 0.8 l/h. Theconsumption of a running car can vary within a wide range: from 0.0l/100km while running downhill and not in gear to 50 l/100km during heavyacceleration while fully loaded.

    9/24

    CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 7

This number tells you how far you can drive with the fuel remaining in yourtank. The number is calculated from the fuel level and the average fuel

consumption over the last 50 kilometres. When fuel level drops below 8litres and the fuel level indicator stops working properly, the amount of fuel inthe tank is calculated according to consumption actually measured.

Once the tank is refilled, the new value is displayed after 30 seconds. Thisdelay can be longer in some specific cases (if you add a small amount offuel, for example).

    KILOMETRES REMAINING Units: km

If the number of kilometres remaining falls down below 50 kilometres, a

double beep will sound and kilometres remaining will be displayed. Thepump will be blinking. Press the control button to stop blinking and restorethe previously selected function. This warning is repeated every time youstart the engine running with less than 50 kilometres remaining.

NOTE:The displayed value of kilometres remaining can be changed by adjustingdriving style. For example, if you slow down considerably, the number ofkilometres remaining can even increase.

    Fuel level

This piece of information can be displayed by pressing and holding down thecontrol button with KILOMETRES REMAINING displayed. This value issimilar to the one shown by the standard analogue fuel meter but itsaccuracy is one decilitre in the whole range of the tanks capacity.

The information for filling the tank given in the KILOMETRES REMAININGsection is also valid here.

    FUEL LEVEL Units: litres

NOTE:The computer shows E instead of the fuel level when first installed in thecar. The proper value appears after 30 seconds.

    Journey time

The TRIP COMPUTER monitors the whole time of uninterrupted driving and

signals the need for a safety break. It displays the time during which theignition has been continuously on. Breaks shorter than 10 minutes areignored.

JOURNEY TIME Displayed as: HH.MM where HH = hoursMM = minutes

The driver is notified of the need to take a break after 2 hours of continuousdriving. The journey time is displayed with the car symbol blinking. Press thecontrol button to stop blinking and restore the previously selected function. This warning repeats after each subsequent two hours driven until you takea break longer than 10 minutes.

    Outdoor temperature

The outdoor temperature in the area close to the road surface is detected by

a sensor located in the left side of the front bumper. The temperature isdisplayed in C with an accuracy of 0.5C.

    OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE Units: C

NOTE:If the car is standing with warmed-up engine, the display of increasingoutdoor temperature is blocked.

    Dashboard voltage

The digital voltmeter can be selected by pressing and holding down thecontrol button with the outdoor temperature displayed. The voltmetermeasures the voltage of the cars electrical network at terminal No. 15 fromwhich the computer is powered. The displayed value is in Volts with anaccuracy of 0.1 V.

    DASHBOARD VOLTAGE Units: Volts

    12/24

    CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 10

NOTE:If the engine is running, the dashboard voltage should remain between13.2 and 14.2 Volts. The exact value depends on the engine speed, state

of the accumulator and the total consumption of all electrical devicesswitched on. If the voltage drops below 13 Volts the accumulator is notcharged sufficiently. If the voltage exceeds 14.5 Volts the accumulator isbeing overcharged.

The voltage of the accumulator itself, which can be read while the engineis off, depends on the charge. After several hours of the engine being off, this voltage stabilises between approximately 12.0 V (accumulator almostempty) and 12.6 V (accumulator fully charged).

The voltage should not drop below 8 V even after long-term running of theengine.

    OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE Signalling

The OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE signalling can be switched on at the timeof installation (see chapter SETUP - OUTDOOR TEMPERATURESignalling). This function activates whenever the outdoor temperature dropsbelow +3C. Its purpose is to notify you of the ne ed to watch the outdoortemperature. Two short beeps are generated and a warning triangledisplayed. If the temperature drops below +3C and the audio indicator isoff, a blinking triangle and a thermometer are displayed. Press the controlbutton to make the display stop blinking. The warning triangle staysdisplayed.

    17/24

    SETUP 15

    Flow meter correction

The required correction can be achieved using the TOTAL CONSUMPTION

function. Fill the tank up and record or reset (TC-6 only) the TRIPCOMPUTER reading of the total consumption. At the next filling, fill the tankup again and determine the percentage difference between the amount ofthe purchased fuel and the value of the total consumption registered by theTRIP COMPUTER since the last tank filling up.

    There are two possibilities:

    1. If the total consumption registered by the TRIP COMPUTER since the

last tank filling up is higher than the amount of the purchased fuel, reduce the original flow meter correction value by the discoveredpercentage difference.

    2. If the total consumption registered by the TRIP COMPUTER since thelast tank filling up is lower than the amount of the purchased fuel, increase the original flow meter correction value by the discoveredpercentage difference.

The flow meter correction can be done by the control button in steps of 1%within the range from -8% to +7%.

    FLOW METER CORRECTION Units: %

NOTE:It is generally true for correcting the flow meter that the more fuel you usefor the correction, the more accurate the result is. Considering thepossible inaccuracy of filling up the tank, it is recommended to calculatethe correction twice and only then to set up the value.

NOTE:The keyed-in changes take effect only after switching the ignition off and

    on again.

    Fuel level indicator correction

Correction of the FUEL LEVEL enables you to increase its accuracy, especially in the range of readings close to zero.

    Correcting the fuel level indicator

The fuel level indicator cannot be corrected by using up all the fuel in thetank. The car producer does not allow this, due to the danger of damage tothe catalytic converter which can occur as a result of irregular fuel supply tothe engine. Check the FUEL LEVEL reading at the moment when the yellowsignal light for lack of fuel on your dashboard switches on permanently whileyou are driving on a level road at a constant speed. The FUEL LEVELreading should be between 5.0 and 6.0 litres.

    There are two possibilities:

    1. If the FUEL LEVEL is higher than 6.0, reduce the original fuel levelindicator correction value by the discovered difference.

    2. If the FUEL LEVEL is lower than 5.0, increase the original fuel levelindicator correction value by the discovered difference.

The fuel level indicator correction can be adjusted by the control button in0.5 litre steps in the range from -4.0 l to +3.5 l.

    FUEL METER CORRECTION Units: litres

NOTE:The keyed-in change will take effect only after filling with at least 5 litresof fuel.
