    After the Spanish American war in 1898 the Americans tookover rule of the Philippines until after the second world war

    With the arrival of the Americans came a new breed ofarchitectural structures

    Foremost of the American contributions to the country wasthe establishment of civil government

    This led to the erection of government buildings from the cityall the way to the municipal level

    Government houses dotted every community. Designed in themost respectable manner, these government houses resembledGreek or roman temples complete with porticoes and pediments.

    During this period the Americans constructed many ArtNouveaux buildings in Manila

    By the mid 20`s to the eve of the second world war, Art Decobecame the bi-word for Philippine Architecture

    The Filipino style found its way in the re-emergence of traditionalmotifs, the tional motifs but were made of more bahay-kuboable materials such as concrete

    Built in 1914 by Filipino architect Arcadio Arellano, thehouse stands as a fine example of Philippine architectureduring a period when Art Nouveau is being incorporatedinto the making of houses and buildings.

    Houses, from inventing Bahay na Bato as one Filipinonotion to Spanish era, Americans brought up a new styleof house, easy to build, easy to cope up with

    Bungalow Houses is anecho of early American

    home, one storey homethat provides great livingspace and flexibility to fit

    the needs of everyone inthe family.

    These were made toprotect from extreme

    coolness in America, butFilipinos see different

    convenience on fabricstexture and warmth

    Woods were still in good

    terms for floorings, butmostly covered with

    carpets for protection

    Instead of pure woods, furniture were made with foam andfabrics to deal with sitting convenience and ease frombody cramps.

    Larger diversity offurniture were made, from

    the way it wasmanufactured, the style

    and fabric to be used, thatwill necessarily create

    partnership with the housecolor or interiors.
