The woman was admitted to an emergency department (ED) after taking carbamazepine 8000mg (186 mg/kg) [route not stated]; it was her third suicide attempt. Her pupils were isocoric and mydriatic and Glasgow Coma Scale was 7 [time to reaction onset not stated]. Her blood pressure was 70/40mm Hg and her body temperature was 36.1°C. The woman received isotonic fluid therapy and charcoal in the ED, and this was repeated following her admission to an ICU. She also received haemodialysis. Her serum levels of carbamazepine decreased from 57.7 µg/mL before haemodialysis to 28.9 µg/mL. On the third day, she was conscious with a GCS of 15. On the fifth day, she was transferred to a psychiatric clinic as she was having persistent suicidal thoughts.
