A 13-year-old girl with right temporal ganglioma developed a generalised itching erythema after 7 days of treatment with carbamazepine. The other two patients, an 18-year-old boy with a history of epilepsy and a 9-year-old girl with cortical dysplasia associated with partial epilepsy, developed a generalised maculopapular erythema or a maculopapular exanthema after 14 days of treatment with carbamazepine. All patients were hospitalised. Skin tests performed with carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine were negative for all three patients. An oral tolerance test with oxcarbazepine at different dilutions was tolerated by all three patients, and they were then treated with oxcarbazepine after discharge, which was well tolerated.
