Reactions 488 - 12 Feb 1994 Antineoplastics Secondary malignancies in patients treated as children and adolescents: incidence study Secondary malignancy occurred in 18/1406 patients treated for cancer with antineoplastic agents and radiation as children or adolescents. The actuarial risk of a second malignant tumour at 25 years after diagnosis was 5.6%. Treatment with doxorubicin or carmustine was associated with a significantly increased risk of secondary malignant tumours. No other treatment variables including surgery, radiotherapy or other chemotherapy were identified as significant risk factors. Green DM, et al.
