    Jimmy’s Story - Summary

    Jimmy is a good kid. Parents are US Citizens, originally from El Salvador. Both parents are skilled workers Father injured in car accident and has to take lower paying temp jobs, family struggles

    financially Jimmy falls in with kids who get in trouble Freshman year, Jimmy goes to new school. Trouble making new friends. Gets caught with

    a pill (opioid) my Ms. Smith. Sent to office where Mr. Jones gives him a warning and callshis parents.

    Increased stress, depression, and doesn’t feel like he fits in, can’t make friends Gets invited to a party, and lies to parents to go. Takes pills and drinks. Finally feels like he

    is making friends Continues to go to parties, then starts taking pills from parties to take daily, so his friends

    will hang out with him and because they help with the stress Goes with his mom to work and steals pills from her patient Gets caught with stolen pills, and Mr. Jones recognizes the dependence on opioids, mental

    health concerns, and calls parents and school counselor. Jimmy get the help he needs.
