Jak badać indywidualny styl?

Idea stylistycznego odcisku palca

Frekwencje bardzo częstych słów (się, w, na, ...)

Nie sposób ich podrobić, trudno uciec od własnej dystrybucji słów funkcyjnych

Tajemnicze frekwencje...

‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.’

(J. Austen, Pride and Prejudice)

“the” = 4.25%“in” = 3.45%“of” = 1.81% …

Kim był Gall Anonim?

Hipoteza francuska (“Gall”) z XVI w.

Hipoteza węgierska z XIX w.

Hipoteza wenecka (Jasiński)

Stanisław Lem: twórczość

Podstawowe pojęcia

“Computation into criticism” (John Burrows)

“Distant reading” (Franco Moretti)

“Macroanalysis” (Matthew Jockers)

Big Data

Atrybucja autorska

Distant reading

Kanon powieści realistycznej: ok. 50 pozycji

Wnioski na temat realizmu ograniczone do nich

Tymczasem: wiemy, że opublikowano ponad 20,000 powieści

Czego możemy się dowiedzieć w dużej skali?

Problem skali, problem zespołu

Jak zebrać korpus 20,000 powieści?

Jak zebrać 15 różnych korpusów? (grecki, włoski, francuski, polski, ...)

Rola badań zespołowych...

… przy czym trzeba by mieć spory zespół!

Akcja COST16204: Distant Reading

Pierwsza próba w 2014: ok. 7-10 osób najmocniej zaangażowanych.

Wniosek prosty (jak na standardy EU!)

Czwarta próba zakończona powodzeniem!

Cel Akcji

Grounded in the Distant Reading paradigm (i.e. using computational methods of analysis for large collections of literary texts), the Action will create a shared theoretical and practical framework to enable innovative, sophisticated, data-driven, computational methods of literary text analysis across at least 10 European languages.

Encourage and enable researchers from less research-

intensive countries to get more involved in all COST activities

Counterbalance research communities unequal access to

knowledge infrastructures, funding and resources distribution

COST is co-funded in two H2020 work programmes:
