Stomatitis and neutropenia: case reportA 58-year-old man with metastatic colon cancer

developed stomatitis and neutropenia while receivingmodified TEGAFIRI (mTEGAFIRI) chemotherapy.

The man had multiple unresectable liver metastaticlesions. He commenced chemotherapy according to themTEGAFIRI regimen, consisting of folinic acid [leucovorin]50 mg/day and tegafur/uracil 300 mg/m2/day, both in twodivided daily doses for 14 days, with a 1.5-hour infusion ofirinotecan 100 mg/m2 on day 1 [routes not stated]. He hadno adverse reactions during his first two cycles ofchemotherapy. However, during his third course, hedeveloped mild stomatitis, which was alleviated bytreatment with an ointment. He also developed mildneutropenia during chemotherapy [duration of therapy toreaction onset and outcome not stated]. At last follow-up,he had completed 32 cycles of chemotherapy and hadmaintained complete response for 15 months.Goi T, et al.
