Myelosuppression, leucopenia andthrombocytopenia: case report

A 40-year-old woman developed myelosuppression,leucopenia and thrombocytopenia while receivingantineoplastics [some routes not stated] for mycosisfungoides.

On 12 August 2009, the woman started modified CHOPchemotherapy with cyclophosphamide 0.6 [dose notclearly stated] (days 1, 8), vincristine 2mg (days 1, 8),epirubicin 30mg (days 1, 8) and oral prednisone 15mgtwice daily (days 1–14), plus peginterferon-α-2a. Shedeveloped a fever and a WBC count of 0.3 × 109/L on26 August 2009, and was regarded as grade IVmyelosuppression. Her condition improved with promptsupportive care. During cycles three and four, shedeveloped grade IV leucopenia and thrombocytopenia withfever.

The woman’s condition improved with supportivetherapy. Following the onset of intracerebral lymphomainvasion, she received two cycles of chemotherapy withsemustine, teniposide and dexamethasone. She was aliveat last follow-up on 24 January 2011.
