The call button The call button module accommodatesone, two or three keys. Clearlyorganized, inaccessible from the frontand illuminated from the rear. In largerresidential units, you simply combineseveral modules.

The card reader slotAccess control and door communicationin a formal and functional unit: themodule accommodates commerciallyavailable card-reading systems and putsan end to individual solutions.

The elektronic key readerThe alternative to a key. Hold theelectronic key briefly above the readingfield, and the door opens. Any lost keyscan be simply blocked.

Siedle Vario is the embodimentof modular communicationsystems, almost unlimited intheir diversity of possiblecombinations. There is probablyno demand for communicationat the doorway that the SiedleVario cannot fulfil: in the wall,on the wall or free-standing, sixstandard colours and countlessothers to special order, withletterbox, illumination, videosurveillance or access control.Siedle Vario integrateseverything that is possible inthe entrance area, in oneuniform, formal framework.Winner of many awards, thesystem design ensures thatevery combination meets thehighest standards of elegantstyling.

Thanks to the combinationoptions of the modular system,Siedle Vario can respond toevery constructionalspecification and to eachindividual wish. Whether youarrange the modules next to orbelow each other, all lines meetand the proportions are alwaysright.You can see an overview of theVario functional modules byfolding out the rear cover.

The flush wall mounting is themost elegant way ofpositioning communicationtechnology at the entrance.With a height of 15 millimetres,Vario has a pleasingly slimappearance; forwardprojections only appear wherethere is a functional demand,such as in the video camera orthe fingerprint reader.

Surface-mounted? Flushmounted? Barely any differencesince the Siedle Vario surface-mounted housing is very flatwith its height of 37millimetres. And pleasinglysimple to install as it does notrequire the wall to be opened.This makes the surface-mounted system the idealsolution for renovation,modernization and surfacesthat are difficult to work with,such as marble.Siedle Vario opens up twooptions of wall mounting: inthe surface mounted housingor as a communicationdisplay*, with panels blendingin harmoniously with thebackground. The display offerspleasing proportions particularlyin larger applications.

Light is required at everyentrance, as is a bell orintercom system. Users whocombine both in the Variosystem avoid inconsistencies instyle and compromises indesign – often repeatedinstallations and additionalsupply devices as well. Likeevery Vario functional module,the LED light module can bedeployed in all the mountingtypes: surface, flush, stand-alone, integrated into a systemor as a solo lamp.Each LED module contains fourstrong white light-emittingdiodes. The modules can bearranged in vertical or

horizontal rows without avisible divider, giving differentlevels of illumination andbrightness to match theirpurpose.The energy efficiency and longlife of the LED light sourcesguarantee low operating andmaintenance costs. Added tothese are the design benefits:the LED lamp is so flat that itfits into the 37-millimetreheight of a Vario surface-mounted frame. And becausethe call buttons and infomodules are also backlit withLEDs, the whole unit isilluminated evenly in the samecolour temperature.

The communication pedestalputs everything into the rightposition. The video cameralooks the visitor in the eye, theintercom is also located at theergonomically correct height.Call buttons and fingerprintreader meet the operator’shand, while at the foot of thepedestal LED modules light upaccess routes and thesurroundings.

Two different versions matchthe pedestals to their function:up to a height of 1.60 metres itcuts an extremely slim figurewith a depth of only 50millimetres and a smooth back(pictured left). If it needs to behigher, accommodate certainfunctional modules* orspecifically support a letterboxor information sign, it receives asolid, 15-centimetre deephousing with retaining grooves(pictured at top and on page20).

When fitted only with LED lightmodules, the communicationpedestals become lightpedestals. At heights of 40(top) or 80 (large picture)centimetres, they illuminateaccess routes, paths or terraces– in a particularly consistentstyle if the communicationpedestal at the entrance alsohas lamps at the same height.

Siedle letterboxes are part ofthe system concept. They canbe combined with all Variofunctional modules and adaptto every design wish and everyarchitectural requirement. Anddespite the great variety, theyalways create a formal unitwith each combination ofmodules.

Letterbox unit with a width of 40centimetres in individual paint finish. Weprovide Siedle Vario systems inpractically every colour of paint finishyou could wish for – arrange for anindividual quotation at your specialistdealer or at the next Siedle centre.Addresses of the centres are on the lastpage.

When observed closely, eachSiedle letterbox is a model ofperfect function anduncompromising quality.Instead of cheap sheet steel,the housings are made ofaluminium. The best way todiscover what else is involvedwhen Siedle engineers reinventthe letterbox is to look at theoriginal. And then you can formyour own opinion.The pass-through letterbox ismounted in the wall. Post fallsinto a shaft and is removedinside the building. Even thesmaller of the two availablewidths (30 and 40 centimetres)swallows large envelopes ornewspapers – important foroffices and other premises witha high volume ofcorrespondence.

Removal of post from the frontis the right choice if no hole inthe wall is desired. The flushmounted version manages witha housing of only 15millimetres in height. If insteada surface-mounted housing isinstalled, the wall remainsintact. In each mounting optionthe letterboxes can becombined with all Variofunctional modules.Siedle letterboxes comply withthe European standard of DIN EN 13724 as a matter ofcourse. Body and panels madeof long-lasting corrosion-proofaluminium can withstandinclement weather as well asunauthorized attempts to openthem.

The LED panel light not only uses lampsas a light source, they are also designelements. Thanks to the translucentplastic, they remain recognizable asindividual point sources of light, withoutdazzling the viewer. Downwards thelight provides broad illumination with asoft light. Technical benefitscomplement the aesthetic: LEDs use lessenergy and last longer than otherlighting equipment.

Perfection in detail: the 3-point boltingmechanism and a hard-wearing cylinderlock keep the mail safe and secure. Theremoval door opens downwards, not tothe side, so that your can take out yourpost comfortably and not have to pick itup from the floor. All-round drainagechannels offer ideal protection againstdriving rain, and the plastic climatic boxprevents the build-up of condensation.

If entrance communication is tobe integrated into oneelement, the letterbox doorpanel provides the basis for atailor-made solution. It isavailable in several installationwidths and fits flush with thesurrounding door panel.

This mounting option alsointegrates all Vario functionalmodules – with a number ofexamples illustrated:information signs, the intercomunit with light button, anelectronic key module and callbuttons with backlitnameplates.

Thanks to the timeless designand the free choice of coloursfrom the RAL range, the doorpanel solutions blends in tomatch the style created by theentrance.

Fitted with Vario functionalmodules and standpipe, theletterbox system becomes afreely placeable communicationcentre. Independent of thebuilding, it is located where itmakes most sense and thefaçade remains untouched,hence there is no interferencewith the shell of the building orany formation of cold bridges.

Siedle Vario systemFree-standing letterbox system

Letterboxes and communicationmodules are weather-resistantand can be positioned in openspaces with no need for aprotective roof. The clear,timeless Vario design blends inwith many architectural stylesand guarantees a prestigiousperfectly designed receptionwith optimum functions.

For bakery and newspaper deliveries, thereturn of the borrowed garden shearsand in fact anything else that will not fitthrough the flap: the storagecompartment can be a useful additionto a letterbox unit.

Space-saving letterboxes make optimumuse of the available dimensions. Theyare available in three heights that can becombined within one unit. The letterboxcan thus be selected to match thevolume of mail received by the user.

On pages 10 and 11, we showhow elegant thecommunication pedestalsappear on their own. Here youcan see how the modularsystem can produce much morethan an intercom unit. The free-standing pedestal carriesletterboxes, information signsand panel lighting at anyrequired height. So that it cando this, it receives a specialhousing with retaining groovesto distinguish it from its slimmersister. The front side of bothversions accommodates all theVario functional modules at theergonomically correct height –and of course the LED lightmodules as well, whichcombine with additionallighting pedestals to givecontinuous lighting of the path.

The large-capacity letterbox also offers asafe storage place for high volumes ofmail. Thanks to its larger depth andsturdy housing, the communicationpedestal can bear heavy loads absolutelysecurely and without any distortion.

Useful accessory: the 230-volt socketbeneath a protective cover flap.

The letterbox with front removal is flushwith the pedestal at the front. Visitorsand postal service alike will appreciatethe integrated illumination of the accessroute.

Siedle ClassicAudio and video door station

Siedle Classic is thecontemporary interpretation ofthe classic door station: a frontpanel made of metal with aloudspeaker grille and keys withstate-of-the-art design,technology, material and finish.The metal panels of SiedleClassic consist of solid stainlesssteel, aluminium or brass with athickness of two millimetres(Material overview: page24/25).

Every Classic door station canbe used for calling, listeningand speaking. The video versionhas additional functions forviewing and surveillance. Ahigh-resolution colour cameraprovides clear pictures of theentrance. It combines a largecoverage area with best picturequality under all lightingconditions. The automaticday/night switchover andintegrated infrared lightingensure that no visitor is left inthe dark.

Behind the elegant surface, thelatest Siedle communicationstechnology is at work. The keysare backlit with long-life andenergy-saving LEDs; their signscan be changed from the frontwithout any need fordismantling. If required, videostations receive anelectromagnetic device as asafeguard against pilfering.

Siedle Classic is available forflush-mount installation in awidth of 170 millimetres asstandard. In the standardversion, the audio door stationaccommodates a maximum ofeight keys, the video model amaximum of four. Specialversions can be produced withthe dimensions enlarged infixed grid steps toaccommodate additional keysor to achieve differentmeasurements.

Burnished brass(Pictured left)This established material lendsthe modern design a traditionalnote, suitable for example inthe discerning country housestyle or in renovation projects.Unlike the PVD coating, theburnished brass finish highlightstraces of frequent use; thematerial can form thecharacteristic patina particularlyappreciated by admirers of thislook. Function and operatinglife of the system are in no wayimpaired by this effect.

Aluminium(Pictured top left) The protectiveanodized finish facilitatescleaning and protects againstcorrosion.

If metal appears too cold, plastictoo synthetic and paint toosmooth – then wood lends thetechnology a warm, naturalnote. The panelling is made ofreal laminated precious woodveneer of the type used to makehigh-quality furniture. Althoughthe natural character of thewood remains visible andperceptible to the touch belowthe open-pored sealing layer,the silk matt surface is resistantto soiling and can be easilycleaned.The precious wood surfacecreates an appealing contrastbetween the high-tech and thenatural. Similar to the humanfingerprint, the grain is a uniquecharacteristic of the wood. Itmakes each in-house telephoneinto an unmistakeable individualitem.

The panelling is neither paintednor coated with foil but madeof real stainless steel, aluminiumor precious wood. In order toaccentuate the high-qualitydesign, the rear of the housingalways has the same surface asthe front. Wood is an exceptionin this respect: Productionreasons mean that the rearcannot be veneered. A hands-free telephone permitscommunication in its mostoriginal form: as a naturalconversation. The manner inwhich the hands-free telepho-nes perform their function issimilarly natural andstraightforward. Their cleardesign guarantees simple,intuitive operation – without amagnifying glass, fingertips anda search for the right button.The large key controls the mostimportant function: it acceptsand terminates calls. If yourhands happen to be full, youcan operate it with yourshoulder or elbow. It also uses arocker mechanism to regulatethe volume. Siedle hands-free telephonesModel overview

The comfort version differs fromthe standard video due to thelarger 3.5-inch colour monitor,its integrated image memoryand the cross-shaped controldevice. Behind it is an extensiverange of functions, which,however, only become apparentwhen they are needed – and areastonishingly easy to use. Thecontrol device calls up a menusystem and uses four directionalkeys and an input button tonavigate through the on-screendisplay. A status line at thebottom edge of the screen givesoperating notes appropriate tothe situation.

The large call button, the dooropener, light switch and mutekey are common to both audioand video devices. The fourthkey of the video model switchesthe door camera manually tothe monitor, with the camerapicture being displayedautomatically each time thedoor rings. Two control knobsfor colour saturation andbrightness adjust thereproduction on the 2.5-inchcolour screen.

Siedle CompactAudio set

Entry level for the Siedle class:the compact set is the rightchoice for building owners andrefurbishing contractors whoknow exactly what they want –as well as what they can dowithout.

The set contains all theequipment that an intercomsystem needs: a Compact doorstation, in-house telephonesand the necessary powersupply unit. White LEDsilluminate the info sign and callbuttons; the nameplates can bereplaced from the front. Interms of design andengineering, the Compact setsare on the same quality level asthe other Siedle product series.

However, they offer no optionsfor individual design andcannot be expanded. Neitherare the compact sets equippedfor connection to thetelephone system. In return,they score with the proverbial,long-lasting Siedle quality at areasonable price.

The Compact Select doorstation varies the award-winning design of the Siedle in-house telephones. A panel ofsolid anodized aluminiumsurrounds the translucentplastic body at the front. Thedesign creates generouslydimensioned surfaces for theprecious material, allowing it tofully unfold its aesthetic appeal.In the dark, the LED lightingdraws a discreet yet clearlydiscernible illuminated framearound the station.

The audio set consists of aCompact Select door stationwith light button, up to fourcall buttons, the appropriatenumber of call stations andaccompanying power supplydevices. Nameplates can bereplaced from the front.Anodized aluminium gives theset a high-quality, elegantappearance inside and out.

Within the set, the door stationcan be optionally combinedwith the classic in-housetelephone or the receiverlesshands-free telephone. Thanksto the uncomplicated surfacemounting and modern bustechnology, installation andassembly are quickly taken careof. This also turns the set into aproblem-solver for renovationprojects. Siedle Compact SelectAudio set: Colour range

Siedle is making an exclusiveoffer for individualists who wishto show their colours at theentrance. On request, we cananodize the Compact SelectSets in three additionalattractive colours: aluminiumred, black and bronze. Thespecial colours are onlyavailable for a single familyhouse and exclusively incombination with receivertelephone (as illustrated).

Anodizing aluminium involvesselectively oxidizing the surfaceof the metal. A protective layerforms in the process, whichprotects the aluminium againstcorrosion and makes it easier toclean. Hence, the characteristicmetallic effect is not created bythe paint coating but by therefraction of light in the micro-fine surface structure itself. Thepaints are not appliedafterwards either; instead theyare deposited in the materialduring the anodizing process.This gives the anodic coatingstheir typical lustre and long life.

Because of these properties, itis not possible to achieve anyabsolute colour fidelity in theanodization process. Slightcolour deviations between thedevices are therefore possibleand technically unavoidable. Asa rule, they can only beperceived when the surfaces arelying next to each other and areno longer apparent afterinstallation.

Siedle Compact SelectVideo set

Anybody who thinks completesets are mainly simple can onlyreally be referring to their fittingand installation. They really areextremely uncomplicatedthanks to super-flat surface-mounted devices and modernbus technology. In quality,engineering, value and design,on the other hand, the Selectsets are on a par with the SiedleVario or Siedle Classic productseries.

Unbelievable, but it really is surface-mounted: the aluminium front appearsto hover a full 21 millimetres in front ofthe wall.

Even the video set only needstwo wires of basic qualitybetween the door and interiorstation – these could also bethe existing wires from aprevious bell or intercomsystem. The camera isadjustable and has almost thesame design as the model usedin the product lines of SiedleVario or Siedle Classic. Thepicture reproduction on the2.5-inch monitor of thetelephones is matching inexcellence.
