Lorazepam Pancytopenia: case report A course of radiotherapy was started in a 47-year-old woman following treatment with hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for adenocarcinoma of the uterus. Five days earlier she had begun taking nightly doses of lorazepam 1mg to assist in sleeping. 15 days after beginning lorazepam, pancytopenia was noted and lorazepam was withdrawn 3 days later. Blood count normalised and remained normal despite continuing radiotherapy. Radiotherapy had been administered to the true pelvis but it was felt that it had not been a major contribution to pancytopenia (total dose of 4250 cGy in 20 fractions). EI-Sayed S.
