Reactions 1510, p29 - 19 Jul 2014 S Lorazepam Worsening of agitation treated with citalopram: case report An 84-year-old woman developed worsening of agitation during treatment with lorazepam and was eventually treated with citalopram. The woman who was acutely hospitalised due to physical aggression and somatic delusion, received lorazepam [route and dosage not stated]. She had also received risperidone, haloperidol and quetiapine. Later, it was found that lorazepam worsened the agitation [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. The woman was treated with citalopram 10mg twice daily on admission, later increased to 15mg twice daily and within 72 hours, the agitation decreased dramatically. She was discharged soon. Later, on a follow-up, she was found in good behavioural control.
