Founded as Foot-Ball Club Barcelona in 1899 by a group of

Swiss, English, and Spanish footballers led by Joan

Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture

and Catalan's, hence the motto "Més que un club" (English:

More than a club). The official Barça anthem is the "Cant

del Barça" written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria

Espinàs. Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters

own and operate Barcelona. It is the world's second richest

football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turn-over

of €366 million. The club holds a long-standing rivalry with

Real Madrid, and matches between the two teams are

referred to as "El Clásico".

FC Barcelona is the most successful club in Spanish

football in terms of overall trophies, having won twenty La

Liga titles, a record twenty-five Spanish Cups, nine Spanish

Super Cups, and two League Cups. It is also one of most

successful clubs in European football, having won ten

UEFA competitions

Tot el camp

és un clam

som la gent blaugrana

Tant se val d'on venim

si del sud o del nord

ara estem d'acord, ara estem d'acord,

una bandera ens agermana.

Blaugrana al vent

un crit valent

tenim un nom el sap tothom:

Barça, Barça, Baaarça!

Jugadors, seguidors,

tots units fem força.

Son molt anys plens d'afanys,

son molts gols que hem cridat

i s'ha demostrat, i s'ha demostrat,

que mai ningu no ens podrà torcer.

Blaugrana al vent

un crit valent

tenim un nom el sap tothom:

Barça, Barça, Baaarça!

Camp Nou ( “New Field”), often erroneously called “the Nou

Camp” in English, is a football stadium in Barcelona, Spain

The stadium, located in the west of the city, has been the

home of FC Barcelona since its construction in 1957. It has

hosted numerous international matches at a senior level

including two UEFA Champions League finals, the most

recent being in 1999. It seats 99,354, making it the largest

stadium in Europe and the fourteenth largest in the world in

terms of capacity. Its official name was Estadi del FC

Barcelona (FC Barcelona Stadium) until 2000, when the club

members voted to formally adopt the popular nickname Camp

Nou. It held UEFA five-star status until that rating was

superseded by a new system of classification in 2006 in which

the Camp Nou is now an elite stadium.

Ibrahim Afellay (born 2 April 1986 in Utrecht) is a Dutch footballer of Moroccan descent playing for FC Barcelona in the Spanish First Division. He has played for the Dutch national youth team and is now part of the senior Dutch national team, who he represented at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He usually played as the centre attacking midfielder for PSV Eindhoven but can also play on either wing due to his pace and creative qualities. In 2007, Afellay was awarded the Johan Cruijff Award for "Young Player of the Year" in the Netherlands.

El Clásico (English: The Classic), also known as El

derbi Español or El Clàssic is the name generically

given to any football match between Real Madrid and

FC Barcelona. It is contested at least (and usually) bi-

annually as part of the Spanish La Liga competition.

Other than the UEFA Champions League Final, it is the

most followed club football match in the world, watched

by hundreds of millions of people.

The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are

the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are the

most successful and influential football clubs in the

country. Real Madrid has amassed 73 trophies and

Barcelona 68, while Athletic Bilbao comes third with 32

trophies. They are sometimes identified with opposing

political positions, with Real Madrid and Barcelona

representing Spanish nationalism and Catalan

nationalism respectively
