Ms Dwan and her keen bunch of gardeners have been constructing an amazing Wizard of Oz display, complete with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tinman and the Lion. There’s been a tremendous amount of work and creativity put into this project, so well done to all involved. Venue: Woolston Working Mens Club Open daily from 10am. Education Review Office - We have been advised that ERO is coming to our school at the end of March. We are looking forward to their visit. Lunchonline - the menu offered at lunchonline is quite broad, offering quite a range of hot and cold foods. The process is: register when you enter the site the first time, select our school, view the menu, place your order before 9am Thursday, for Thursday delivery. The food arrives here and is available at the office at lunchtime. Very simple and convenient. Shirley District Music Scheme - Is your child interested in learning to play an instrument- as very competitive rates? There are spaces available for tuition through this wonderful scheme. Parents helping out where and when they can… Thanks to the parents who came along last week to see how they can help at school. We’re having another meeting on Thursday 16th March 5.30pm in the staffroom - aiming for a finish time of 6.30pm. We’d love to see you there. Help needed .. Painting basketball backboards - Tick, a work in progress. Murals - does anyone have skills in leading groups of children to create murals? Please see Mr. Siave. Hīnau News - Te Tāhu Rua Reo (Rm 4) Yesterday, six students from Room 4 had the pleasure of six Japanese students from the University of Sendai, which specializes in Physical Education. The students taught Room 4 a traditional Japanese dance called Yusakoi. Students also learnt dexterity with the Kendama. We also learnt how to fly the Japanese helicopter blade. Yusakoi Kendama Helicopter Blade The students of Room 4 were eager to join in with all the activities and it gave the Japanese students opportunity to practice being the teacher, and to showcase their english speaking skills. Nb. Pupils must use their school email for all work at school. Accessing the internet with a non-school account is deemed to breach our internet protocols. Pasifika Fanau Fono A big Thank you, Faafetai, and Malo to the Pasifika families who attended our fono (hui) two weeks ago. We had a wonderful group of parents and children, all of our teachers, and four guests. Our sharing and brainstorming session was followed by a wonderful time of conversation over a delicious meal. Thank you to the families for bringing all my favourite Pacific Island foods!
