Company History

This local swimwear company was created as a new lifestyle brand catering to Miami’s elite. Tim Gorgol, the creative director, looked to create unique pieces of swimwear with a boho-luxury touch. What resulted are hand-dyed pieces that are all each slightly different and unique.

Together with business partners Selim and Serge, they launched Indie Soul and it was an instant hit. Within the year, they were selling to retailers in major cities including Hong Kong and Paris.

Why PrestaShop

Indie Soul knew they would need a beautiful website easily customized with a template or theme. PrestaShop offers many features to continuously customize and optimize the online shop. The store connects to so many different services in a few clicks.

When we’re looking for functionality to make our lives easier, we can almost always find a solution already developed by the community.

With the business already expanding internationally, it was clear that Indie Soul needed a website that could adapt to their diverse customer base. When a customer logs onto the website, the IP address is automatically detected and the right language and currency is displayed. It was everything they needed to launch a successful online store.

PrestaShop experience

In the year following the launch of the online shop, less than 25% of the company’s sales resulted from their online store. Although most of their orders came from offline retailers, the online store was maintained for those who shopped online and as an online catalog for potential new retailers to browse the collection.

This changed in February 2015, following the release of the Sports Illustrated cover featuring a bathing suit designed by Indie Soul. The website instantly received a 300% increase in the number of visitors. Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the website to purchase the now-famous bikini. Despite the increase in visitors, the website operated as usual and was easily customized to allow back orders.
