The man received carbamazepine at 800mg twice daily [route not stated] for complex partial seizures of lateral temporal lobe origin without secondary generalisation. The seizures persisted with frequency of once per month. An MRI revealed oval lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum which was hyperintense on FLAIR and T2-weighted MR images [duration of treatment of reaction onset not stated]. Carbamazepine was replaced with oxcarbazepine and lamotrigine. Few weeks later, the lesions disappeared. Author comment: "Due to hepatal lesion caused by [carbamazepine], the therapy was switched to 1200 mg of oxcarbazepine" Nankovic S, et al.
