myki cards can be purchased from any metropolitan train station, bus or tram interchange, selected retail outlets, online or over the telephone.
For top ups, replacing lost or stolen cards, or further information, call 1800 800 007 or visit the website.
Whenever you enter or exit a train station or board a metropolitan bus, you must touch on at the myki reader at the start of your journey and touch off at the myki reader at the end. Doing so ensures you pay the lowest fare based on your journey.
When travelling on metropolitan trams, you only need to touch off if your entire trip is within Zone 2 to pay the lowest fare.

Bike Parking in knox
With over 90 bike parking locations around the municipality, Knox City Council has developed an interactive Google-based bike parking map. Google search ‘Knox Bike Parking’ or Log on to: www.knox.vic.gov.au and search Bike Parking.
Train Station (Parkiteer) Bike Cage Access:
www.bicyclenetwork.com.au > Bikes & Riding > Parkiteer Bike Cages
Located at Bayswater Train Station and Ferntree Gully Train Station, Parkiteer facilities allow for safe and convenient bike parking at train stations. Only a $50 refundable security deposit is required. No ongoing costs and it is 24 hour accessible. Arrange your access card through Bicycle Network Victoria.
Swooping
www.dse.vic.gov.au/swoop
Be careful of magpies during spring as they have a tendency to swoop riders/walkers. The Department of Sustainability have tips and an online map where you can report or look up reported swooping sites.
Plan Ahead
www.bigyak.net.au/trails/biketrails.html
Thanks to a local cyclist, you can now plan your trip using a Google-Based interactive map which allows you to:
• Plan routes
• Locate swooping bird sites
• Integrate Bureau of Meteorology weather forecasts
• Determine distance and time
• Locate bike share facilities and more!
Road Etiquette
www.vicroads.vic.gov.au > Safety & Rules > Riders & Safety > Bike Riders
Safety is important for everyone. Here are some rules and etiquette cyclists should be aware of:

• Warn pedestrians of approach with a bell or your voice
• All cyclists must obey all standard road rules that apply to cars as they are still considered a road vehicle

In Touch WITh naTurE Starlight Reserve in Rowville has been through many changes. This is the site of a former World War II prisoner of war camp, and has now returned to native bushland. Visitors can enjoy the wetland and tranquil bush setting and view interpretive art on natural, cultural and historical values of this hidden part of Knox.
The knox Environment Society (kES), located near the Ferntree Gully Library, has been supplying indigenous plants, educating, advocating, and caring for the natural environment since 1982. The indigenous nursery supplies and offers great information on gardening with indigenous plants. KES and Knox City Council have been in partnership in co-ordinating the Gardens For Wildlife program.
lakewood Reserve in Knoxfield is a fantastic example of the vegetation type that once dominated the Knox landscape. This reserve offers meandering nature walks, and bird watching opportunities on the lake.
yarrabing Wetland is dominated by large remnant Manna gums that tower the landscape. Situated next to Dandenong creek, this wetland plays an important role for local vegetation, birds, and frogs. Stop for a rest, picnic or simply listen to the bush chorus of birds and frogs.
