Reactions 1388 - 11 Feb 2012 S Antineoplastics Enterobacter sepsis in a child with Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia: case report An 8-year-old boy with Schimke immuno-osseous dysplasia developed Enterobacter sepsis following treatment with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, methotrexate and vincristine for Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma; he later died. The boy received vincristine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin and intrathecal methotrexate for Non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma B-cell type (stage III); antineoplastics were administered at half the usual doses [dosages not stated and not all routes stated]. He developed febrile neutropenia [durations of treatments to reaction onset not stated]; tests revealed the following values: WBC count 2000, polymorphonuclear leukocytes 10%, eosinophils 5%, basophils 3%, lymphocytes 78% and monocytes 4%. Antibiotics and supportive therapy were initiated to no avail; the boy later died from Enterobacter sepsis. Basiratnia M, et al.
