The International Book Fair in Krakow, a cyc-lical event dedicated to the publishing andbookshop sector, has been organised byTargi w Krakowie Ltd. in Krakow since 1997.The Fair, which falls into the category of reader-ship promotion, is open to the general public.Exhibitors include: publishing houses, bookwarehouses, bookshops, cultural institutions,associations related to the Polish book mar-ket, distributors of electronic media dedicatedto readers, printing companies and paperproducers.

WITH THE READERS IN MINDThe International Book Fair in Krakow has long attrac-ted considerable attention among visitors.The formerpresident of the Federation of European Publishers,Piotr Marciszuk, estimates that the Fair is now the lar-gest Polish event in the publishing and booksellingindustry, as evidenced by the consistently growingturnout, crowned with the record 68,000 participantswho joined this four-day feast of literature in 2015.This high attendance attests to the robust conditionof book-readership in Poland, and inspires opti-mism for future editions of the InternationalBook Fair in Krakow. With the visitor inmind, the publishers and organisershave prepared an extensive addi-tional programme.
