By implementing humanitarian projects supporting sus-tainable development on three continents worldwide, Wefa is spreading the spirit of helping and sharing. The fo-cus of our work is on the development of individual, alter-native solutions tailored to the individual problems of soci-eties in the areas of need.
Every year Wefa carries out thousands of Qurbanis in form of Adaq and Aqiqah on behalf of donors and distributes the meat to the families in need.In general, many families can´t afford meat. So they con-sume meat only once a year. It is during the holy time of Eid-al-Adha. How can I give my Qurbani?If you are interested in donating a Qurbani, you can easily contact our organization. We will be happy to assume this task for you and distribute the donations directly to those families in need. Wefa e.V. was founded in 2006 and has extended the Qur-bani project to 70 countries worldwide. The Qurbani cam-paign has started in 2015. During this time period we have been active in the following countries: Tanzania, Mongo-lia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Cashmere, Togo, Bangladesh, Albania, Ethi-opia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Chad, Macedonia, Leba-non, Russia and in Turkey.
What is Adaq?Performing the sacrifice of adaq is a gesture of grati-tude for one´s blessings by gifting fresh meat to the poor and hungry in society.
What is Shukr?Performing the sacrifice of shukr is a gesture of gratitude for one´s blessings by Allah. The meat of the sacrificed animal can be dis-tributed to family members and people in need. It is also allowed to consume the meat for your own enjoyment.
Aqiqah, is defined in the Islamic terminology as the animal that is slaughtered on the occasion of child birth. The performance of Aqiqah is highly encouraged as it is a great act of Sunnah. It is to be performed by the parents or the guardians of the child. Proph-et Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions used to perform Aqiqah when they were bestowed with a newborn.
