Justify the needHello my name is Sergio and I’m an IAB student now cursing the eighth grade and in the

third year of the design subject, during all the past years we had been making several reports according to an issue in general that is happening in the society now a days. This year is not the exception and the issue we are going to be working with will be the technology in the society as a benefit or a threat, but what we need to understand first of all is the conflict in a concrete way. You’ll see, even though the technology is such a great door to new and exciting possibilities, the reality is that there are also lots of dangers behind it.

For instance we can talk about the social networks, they had been made for the sharing and the expressing of our ideas, also taking note that they can dilute distance barriers between people, but in the same networks there are hidden criminals waiting for an opportunity to take, or without going to the extremes and talking about more possible things we can mention the actual cases of cyberbullying. Recalling other technology aspects that can be discussed we can chose the effects that the new gadgets create in the people, but more centralized in the teenagers, who are the ones that spend more time in there.

Well some of this effects are: the change in priorities taking internet as a primordial one, and automatically losing face to face interaction possibilities and abilities, or believe it or not the technology influence in many of our necessities such as health care or transport media, an example of this can be the modern security systems in the cars and the new air bags that have been saving lives since very long time ago or what about the radiography, tomography, between other inventions that influence in a direct way our life style and the conditions in where we are as people After talking about the nature of the problem and the examples that can be debated within,

We can now focus (in my opinion) the most important part of the issue: how it affect the people and what specific group of people is affecting. The answer to the first interrogative is that actually the technology can affect us in different ambits as the already mentioned health care, social nets or transportation media, but it can even cover from the from the human relationships and even the arts. On other hand we have the people that can get affected by technology that in fact is everyone, every single person in this modern world can be influence by the technology

But with a kind of emphasis we can realize that the most susceptible ones to all this are the younger persons, teens and children, but sadly also some adult ones can be find in this. The reason that the youth is the most involved in this is because they are more curious about stuff and as technology can simplified the life they are more often to use it in a regular way, regrettably the excessive use of it is rapidly creating more and more social troubles that were already mentioned among… the youth.

There is not an exact place in where this problem is occurring, because actually as in other point this “issue” can be presented in any country or any place that has technology, and as

we saw the technology are not just the cellphones, tablets, computers, there are also technological innovations in other camps, such as mechanics, proving that the electricity (that is the word within the people associate technology) is not necessary to produce technology, but if you want to emphasizes in only one place or an specific one, I would suggest that the most probable place in where technology as benefit or threat can be presented is in: schools homes.

The first place well as you may imagine is because most of the young people assist to it, and in the cases where directives approve the use of technology in classes besides the necessary ones people can start using it for their personal “profit” and in this case profit can be took as harm each other, or formally known as cyberbullying, also the creation of Facebook pages regarding school knowledge may been disturbed by some students who posted inappropriate information or images in order to other students see it or make a kind of bad joke to the principals.

Passing to the other place the homes, what I reefer the most is to family homes, but why family homes, well because in most of the families are sons, and these sons may get obviously teens and start using technology, the thing in here is that if the parents don’t apply restrictions to the use of this gadgets, sons are going to use in a more often way this gadgets, and probably to at least once use it for bad purposes.

Other important part of this topic that needs to be touched is the question that most of the people asked themselves with any kind of conflict, that is what is the cause of the same problem?, as in many other problems there is not a certain cause for this issue, in fact this is one of the multiple cause issues that continue to expand all over the world, yes ALL over the world, some of the causes we can recall, and people take as the main ones are, The lack of interest in it by part of the parents and the public in general that is directly related with the next cause that is, the acceptance of the issue as a normal thing and one within people can deal every day, for example

How many persons do you know that aren’t linked with the social nets or that is concern about the actual situation of technology position, very few isn’t it? Well how many do you know that are doing something to change it, almost no one, well welcome to reality, but the little percent against the probability, is complaining about it but actions are still missing. Other cause that people talks about is the only interest of companies in the income of money and they do not do anything to advert about their consequences of their technological products, but they say that the people is already aware, the saddest thing is that yes its true.

Finally the effects of the problem as I already stated are, since technology is in everything, the losing of real interactions between each other, this means having more abilities to chat or text instead of talk or met each other. Because of the excessive use of the technologies, the lack of interest in other social and recreate activities, don’t want to get out of your room because of being in internet or in the computer, losing opportunities of play a real sport or athletic stuff the changing of priorities taking the internet and technology as a primordial one, for example protect your cellphone or computational gadgets with your life, between other effects.

Now after talking about the negative aspects that the technology have on the society, it’s time to tell the positive aspects this can have in the same aspects of the life. After being researching by lots of websites I had the opportunity of finding many interesting facts and things may be useful for the further learning life regarding this topic, the human relationships was one of the topics I talk about. The technology in this aspect is capable of dilute barriers, in this case distance barriers, the use of new applications or tools such as: skype, facetime and other video chat apps are the most incredible thing may happen to friends or couples that need to fight against the distance conflict.

As you may saw the technology is very well stablished in the human relationships taking place in almost all the people in the world, an actual prove among many other ones that the technology now is reaching us in everything, but actually this maybe would be good you will see why by reading the next research facts, but first the last aspect I talked about was in detail very related with the next one and to the majority of the following ones this are the social networks

The social networks are in a comparison, the how to interrogatives that regard the meet with other persons between long distances but also a great alternative at the hour of having a question you forgot to ask or something you want to share with the people that surround you at least in the internet, and also great platforms to discover new and interesting things, even though there also cases about the disadvantages of the usage of this aspect, there are more people that support the idea of a well-structured communication system.

Other of the aspects that we can redial in here is the healthcare a topic that concern all of us, since is in some way one of the pillars that sustain our lives, and even thought the technology has cons that affected truth is that it also has points in favor, and some of this points include the technology; for instance never until this times a doctor was allowed to be pendent from his or her patients, or advise them in certain things that request it, call it the use of medicines they need to take or the

movements they are capable to do after a surgical intervention, this can even save a life, for example if a patient that recently was operated from the back or the stomach and points were remained in he, obviously this points need to be cared with his life, because from them maybe depend his life, but he don’t know what exactly he can do, well the only thing he need to do is use his cellphone to call his doctor with skype, facetime, messenger or whatever they use in order to his doubts be answered.

Other aspect that can be study is the transport and communications, this is probably one of the aspects in where the technology has advanced much. With the pass of the years we had

learned that transportation media has the same weight than other aspects, maybe it was because of this realize that the now a days transportation seems to have an incredible potential, for instance the cars now are not only moved by gas the resources that surround us are finally starting to be use, the sun is the perfect sample of it, but also the implementation of innovative gadgets in the cars as: new GPSs or gas administrator, but the car is not the only one that

suffered the wonders of technology but also the trains which in actual times can carry more than a 1000 tons and move in a safe route all because of the materials they are made of and the structure they have and the use of train roads with better materials: more resistant and well structured, but how can we forgot about one of the most important transport media, we at list use once: the airplane considered the safest transport reached this status because of….guess please: the advance of technology enriching the knowledge of its infrastructure and also in the materials use, but the cargo planes are also well knew because of the security it ensure for their loads.

Another topic we can discuss for a long time is the technology in the arts, which is one of the most appreciated aspects by the society and for some people technology is a great help for others is an unbelievable threat that only them can see, the answer is that technology has many faces we could and couldn’t see so it can be both, something that is sure is that thanks to the technology the preservation of masterpieces is a reality, with what instruments do you think renaissance paintings are cared or what do you think may happen if Mozart or Beethoven works were not remastered for iTunes, in fact they were lost with the pass of the years, but that’s what happened already, the question is what is doing now, actually technology is one of the most important things for the production of arts. An artist will not do their

Paints himself, unless he or she is very artisanal, but in today’s world the colorful paints are made by an actual process machine that can produce many tonalities and colors. The music is also an aspect we can mention, as people, animals and things evolve, the arts also need to, a particular case we saw in recent years is the evolution from classical music, to other genre music: rock, pop, rap, to the probably most hear it now: the electronic music, without technology the computers, turntables or mix sounds will not exist, and also count the show djs make not possible without the technology.

As a conclusion for the already seen things until now I want to say that the technology has influenced and changed the way things work and the way people think in many cases, but it’s in us the position we adopt I front of this topic, if we decide that the technology is the best thing can happened to the society or maybe the worst, we need to see both sides of the game and then if you want stick to your mentality but always being open minded to new perspectives.

(Javier get scared when he hear the yell)

Javier: what do you want?

Sergio: I was asking you if you know where I leave my computer, do you know it?

Javier: no I don’t, now could you please leave me I’m doing something important

Sergio: What happened to you? since you have that cellphone you had changed, a lot

Javier: leave me in peace, I have more important things to do,

Sergio: as what, being a bored guy with an obsession to the goddamn internet?

Javier: Did you know all the things in where technology help us, in where internet help us?

Sergio: Did you know in how much It don’t and in how much it actually cause harm?

(Javier gets up and walks to a computer, he sit in front of it)

Javier: Lets search for this, advantages of technology

(we both wait a few seconds, as if the internet was working)

Sergio: look it don’t even work

Javier: No now you look! In here it says that with the technology now the distance isn’t a problem for communication, social networks can maintain communicated people from one continent to other.

Sergio: and in here it says that, it’s responsible for the loss of verbal communication in the majority of times, and that cyberbullying or crimes in general use internet as a preferred media

Javier: and in here it says that it can help people with shyness or less developed social abilities

Sergio: Yeah, whatever, I’m going to buy some things, just don’t take what happens there

(Sergio points to the cellphone)

Sergio: as it happens here in the real world

Javier: Sure, I’m fine

(Javier returns to his original place and takes his cellphone again)

Javier: what’s this? Hello “prettygirl69”

(Sergio returns to the house with the things and sees Javier in the same place using his cellphone, and he walks to him)

Sergio: Really? You don’t do anything else but being in facebook the whole day

Javier: No, hey I think I just get in love with a pretty girl, look

(Javier pass the cellphone to Sergio)

Sergio: mmmmhhhh, mmmhhhh, mmmmhhhh, did you consider the possibility that she isn’t a girl

Javier: what are you trying to say?

Sergio: I mean who name “herself” as prettygirl69? Now a days anyone can get information of anyone by seeing his or her profile in….anywhere

Javier: No she is perfect, there’s no other explanation, and for your information I’m going to meet her tomorrow

Sergio: where?

Javier: In the park at 3:00 o clock

Sergio: again don’t take technology as real life, it can end really bad

Javier: my businesses are mine, maintain in your own, so what did you buy?

Sergio: ahhh plenty of things, but there in the street is a man trying to sell piracy, actually movies, I don’t know why he do it, or how he gets the movies

Javier: well there’s another thing of technology it is related to arts.

Sergio: see helping piracy, it’s not the best action it can do

Javier: Actually it can be the sustain of whole families so, it have also a good side

Sergio: You’re right, but technology still causing more harm than good

The next day……

Javier: today is the day, prettygirl69

(Javier go outside of the house with flowers to see prettygirl69)

(After reaching the park, Javier waits for her girl)

(A man that results a kidnapper waits behind some bushes, and when Javier is distracted he takes him to his van)

(Meanwhile in the house Sergio search for Javier)

Sergio: Javier, brother, Javier???? , where is he?

(In the kidnappers place)

Javier: What I’m doing here? Where am I?

(Javier see the kidnapper)

Javier: What do you want? hey man what do you want? Do you hear me? OH NO prettygirl69?

Kidnapper: Oh yes, silly boy it was always me

(The kidnapper shows the conversations they had)

Kidnapper: now shut up and stay there

(The kidnapper put tape in Javier’s mouth, and he take the telephone)

Sergio: where is he? Aha he must be in the park with that supposed girl, let’s see if she’s real

(In that moment the telephone rings and Sergio answer)

Sergio: Hello?

Kidnapper: Now hear me, because I don’t repeat things I want $_______ in a bag by tomorrow in the park at exactly 3:00, otherwise…, well you know

(The call ends and Sergio get out of the house)

Kidnapper: don’t worry kid soon you’ll be free… or no,

(The kidnapper takes the tape off from Javier’s mouth)

Javier: can I take a picture, for maybe my last photo uploaded, you know to always remember this moment?

Kidnapper: Okay, (the kidnapper takes the photo with his cellphone)

Javier: now can you upload it?

Meanwhile

(Sergio speaks with a police man)

Sergio: but he was kidnapped, he was in the park and then he was kidnapped, and then the kidnapper demanded $_______ or if not you know

Policeman: but we are not sure if he is or not kidnapped, maybe is just an invention from you I don’t know maybe you’re the kidnapper

Policeman: The point is we can’t do anything until be sure he was kidnapped, or missing, who knows maybe he is just with the “prettygirl69”

Sergio: ahhhh (Sergio checks the cellphone) OH now I know where to find it, hey Mr. policeman wait.

(In the police patrol)

Sergio: This all starts for a discussion

Policeman: What was about it?

Sergio: He thinks technology is the salvation of the world but he don’t realize that it causes more harm than good

Policeman: well because in certain way it cause some good, I’m not saying it is the world’s salvation, but it can help

Sergio: but see all the things it have done

Policeman: I know I know but see also the one in where it had helped, for instance without technology improvements the transport media wouldn’t be the same, in fact this car wouldn’t exist as we see it

Sergio: yeah but without tech and all those nets this situation would not be happening

Policeman: I’m just saying that it can influence in an equal way the society with harm or good, but it depends on the way people use it,. We arrived

(The policeman knocks the door) (The kidnapper open it)

Kidnapper: yes? I’m now in a very….

(The policeman arrest the kidnapper)

Javier: Sorry I must knew that it was a trap, no one named herself as prettygirl69

Sergio: It’s okay, and by the way now I understand why you were trying to tell maybe technology can be good but remember it all in how we use it.

Present and Justify Final chosen productAt this part of the process my partner and I had already established a kind of draft for the

final product or in this case a video. My partner is Javier Adrian Martinez Sepulveda. His proposal was a story about how the technology can affect us in different aspects, taking as an example the kidnappers and the cases of these events, the argument of the story was the following (in a very brief way): One guy that is in love with a girl accept the request of her for a meeting in somewhere to know each other, the problem is the supposed girl was actually a man, a mature man that wants to take profit of the boy’s situation to kidnap him.

The boy’s brother concern about it tries to stop his brother but he can’t, his feelings totally blind him, then at the place the boy is waiting for the girl, but the kidnapper appears and take the boy, after several hours of waiting for his brother, the other guy decides to ask help from the police, but they tell him that there’s not much they can do until a clue of his disappearance is clear, and the conflict is solved by the same kidnapper who published a photo in facebook of the brother and himself, after that the police offer help and the story is practically over.

My proposal was an argument in where a guy (a major brother) tries to talk with his brother but he is very concentrate in the social networks that he don’t even notice his brother is in there, until the brother tell him he is going to turn off the internet, after a discussion they start to complain, discuss and debate about the aspects of the technology in the world, with several threats about turning off the internet and hit each other because of that (a reference to what the technology can make us do), and after minutes of discussion they both realize that the technology in concrete3 the internet is making them fight. So they reconcile to each other and well, the happy ending.

The problem with my idea was that it doesn’t have an argument or story, and Javier’s problem was that his one missed some discussion. After a feedback we made to each other we decided to join both ideas in order to get an argument with appropriate facts and debatable topics, avoiding violence or other inappropriate messages, now we are about to record it.

Justify changes made to the design

As many other projects this one needed a few changes on the structure in order to leave only a presentable product that impress the expatiators, The first change was the time, since I who was the one that write in a major part the dialogues of the characters in the video, got confused in the timing, I thought that we were supposed to create a video that remain at least from seven to ten minutes, but actually the teacher told us from one and a half to two and a half, a huge difference was found in there, the surprise was in an equivalent way from my partner and from I. At the end we hopefully record such a great video that let us to get a few cuts from the original one, to connect two and a half amazing minutes, regarding our point but with some humoristic tones.

The next change was indeed the content of the video itself, since this one was pretty much confusing with both ideas in the same place, we decided to instead of only joining both proposals in the video that would like as two different things, we create a whole new video using our stuff and that’s how we got the conclusion of: sometimes if the things become rough you only need to order them, this was also because if our content was only putted together our project would be kind of contradictory but also sort of inappropriate, so making use of a brainstorm we modified the project and its ideology.

Basically those were the major changes we made to the video, without mentioning the fact that we kind of instruct in the same way, in my humble opinion this actually improve the quality of the video providing it with greater originality and creativity. Finally after all this we give the finished project in class.
