30 October 2018 Newsletter 30 Dear Parents/Caregivers Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa We welcome a number of new students to our school for Term 4 and wish them, and their families, all the best as they join our school community. Room 5 has also opened and we look forward to another cohort starng in the middle of the term. Term 4 will provide plenty of interest and excitement! With Ag Day very soon upon us, our forest playground upgrade to be completed shortly, athlecs ‘season’, Year 3-6 camps and/or outdoors experiences, end of year achievement reports issued, student-parent-teacher conferences summarising the year and seng focus for the future, finishing off the official school year with our school prizegiving, and much more ... It is always a very full term as we finish off the year and start planning for 2019. Ag Day - very important message! Many people may not be aware of the wonderful group who volunteer to organise the huge annual undertaking of ... Ag Day! These people have been meeng for a number of months, with their preparaon and commitment the main reason why so many, many hundreds of people will get to enjoy our Ag Day. They have done the hard work. But they require ‘more hands’ to help on the day. A little bit of your time - from a number of families - helps make the day successful . And then more people contribute and feel they have some part in the success of what is a superb day for our school each year. It is as easy as clicking to fill in this simple Ag Day Roster Form! As of last night there were about 60 families who had not yet registered to help and we have at least 20 – 30 spaces to fill . Please do so and show your support for our brilliant Ag Day group and our amazing school! Looking forward to an incredible day on the 27th! Winter Sports Prizegiving On the last day of term Mr Rosamond co-ordinated a very successful ‘Winter Sports Prizegiving’, where all our teams were recognised for the performances during the year. All of our players were acknowledged, along with the wonderful coaches and managers who gave their me, energy and commitment to support the teams this year. There was also a special presentaon to Jo Windust for her fantasc co-ordinaon of our netball and hockey teams. Thank you so much Jo for all the work you do for our teams! An excellent way to finish the term!

Our Special Weekly Awards On Friday at assembly we recognise people who have made a meaningful contribu�on to our school. Winners of the awards from the last week of last term were:

Cool Kiwi - for a positive contribution to the school environment : Aleah, Dusty, Eeshia & Vera (Room 6) for choosing to �dy the school during their lunch�me by picking up rubbish! Thank you! Tomato Dude – for a special class/group/individual of the week : Our Year 6 students for showing respect during the marae visit on Tuesday. You were fantas�c representa�ves of our school! Crackerjacks award – for sportsmanship: Student Leaders group for organising the Staff vs Students netball game. Great job!

E- Award At last weeks assembly, the E-award monitors, Evie And Sophie commented that you all did a great job keeping your rubbish bins nice and �dy this week. So well done. The results were: 3 rd place Rm 6 2 nd place Rm 8 & 10 1 st place Rm 9

Day in lieu of Ag Day! Ag Day is on Saturday 27 October and is an official school day. It is a very memorable learning experience for everyone. School will be closed on Friday 2 November as a day-in-lieu of the Ag Day event . FROM FOTS:

Homemade; chutneys, jams, relishes, homemade baking - baking boxes will come home the week leading up to Ag Day. It would be hugely appreciated and helpful if these boxes can be returned to school on the Friday - the day before Ag Day as we need �me to sort, price and display. Ideas for these cake box fillers include: cakes, cupcakes, fudges, wrapped sweets, marshmallow s�cks, toffee & toffee apples. Other fresh produce we’d love to see includes: fresh eggs, fresh fruit -e.g lemons etc, fresh vege’s eg. potatoes, fresh cut flowers, homemade candles, homemade soaps. We are also looking for anyone who may like to donate brown paper bags of cellophane. Thanks again and any queries at all please don’t hesitate to ask you us or your class rep. Silent Auction Info - Just a reminder that we are s�ll in need of smaller items for our Ag Day silent auc�on. If you have any unused products such as beauty, wine, specialty foods - anything that can be added to hampers. Or items that could be auc�oned on their own such as candles, bo�le of bubbles, new books, memorabilia, free �ckets ….. Do you have a business or a friend that has a business that could donate a voucher or product? If you have fly buys points or similar these can be a great way to choose a gi� to donate to the auc�on too!
