ALL PRAISE IS due to Allaah! Masjid Ahlul Quraan Wa Sunnah is going to have its own masjid. Itsbeen in the works for a long time, and for the ad-ministration its sometimes been a trying process, to find andsecure the right location and premises that would suit the needsof our Jamaah. However, their faith in Allaah never wavered asall trust was put in Him for guidance and success in realizing thisgoal Alhamdulillah.

The new property is located in South Ozone Park, and ironi-cally, it used to be a church. The property size is 40 X 200 feet. There are two levels consisting of, approximately 7000 squarefeet, and can accommodate about 600 people. Among the manyadvantages of the new location is that it is much bigger andthere is yard space for activities and events. There is also a possi-bility of adding another floor which can accommodate another200 people. The new Masjid is just three minutes away from JFK

airport and one block away from the Conduit.

Even with the current economic climate, buying a property inNew York is expensive. It cost $850,000, and there is additional work planned which will bring the cost to around $1,050,000-which means that additional funding will be required.

Some of the immediate projects include: the Wudhu area, heat-ing and cooling systems, bathrooms etc. The property is in needof some renovation too, which of course is very expensive. Thismeans that all of us who attend the masjid and use its amenitieswill be called on to assist.

    A Masjid to callour own...

During the next few weeks the administration, headed by Br.Zahid Rashid, will be seeking the input of all those brothers andsisters with their various skills to offer their services in the areasthat need work.

This is also a real opportune time to get in on the groundfloor of building a masjid where there wasn't one before. Canyou imagine the perpetual reward for the brother, or brothers, who build the Wudhu area themselves by hand? The rewards arenot only limited to those performing physical work, but also in-clude the ones who donate: like the tiles, or plumbing supplieseven if its one bottle of PVC glue!

There would also be the need for actual financial assistance forthose goods, services, and expenses that are not donated. So ex-pect a massive fundraising drive for this project.

Brothers and sisters we are very aware that the economic cir-

cumstances are grim and many among us are struggling to makeends meet. This will also put to test our faith in Allaah on decid-ing how much to give and how much to keep for food on thetable or to pay the rent. But remember that Allaah is understand-ing and compassionate. He does not expect any of us to take ourentire rent or grocery money, and give to the masjid. He wants usto give what we can afford.

A good place to start where we can feel less of a pinch is indiscretionary spending, like not eating out as much for example. However, it is always better to feel a pinch because this is when

An opportunity for us to do our part in

    building a House of Allaah

Shaytaan stands the most to lose. Whenever you think to reachinto your pocket for that $20 bill he whispers to you to take the$10 bill instead. For some of us the thought of ever pulling out a$50 or even a $100 never enter our minds because Shaytaan has

fully closed that door for us already.

Abu Huraira (Allaah be pleased with him) reported Allaah'sMessenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying, When a mandies, his acts come to an end, but three: recurring charity, or knowledge (bywhich people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the de-ceased).[MUSLIM]

Allaah also said in the Quran: Who is he that will lend to Allaah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to himmany times? And it is Allaah that decreases or increases(your provisions), and unto Him you shall return.[Al-Baqarah 2:245]

Do you want to help?IF YOU CAN provide any help by way of donationfinancially or in materials or with your skill and tradethen please contact Br. Afzal at 718-490-8550 so we

can coordinate. This project is still in the planning phase and exact details willsoon be forthcoming. Please provide your name, phone numberand email address so we may keep you updated as the work pro-gresses. In the meantime get yourself prepared for theareas you may be best suited for. too much about his intention to reconstruct the

too much. I heard the Prophet saying, 'Whoever

built a mosque, (Bukhari thought that 'Asim,

ALLAAH SAYS IN the Quran:"And, when he (his son) was old

enough to walk with him, he said: "Omy son! I have seen in a dream that Iam slaughtering you (offer you insacrifice to Allaah), so look what youthink!" He said: "O my father! Dothat which you are commanded, In-

sha Allaah (if Allaah will), you shallfind me of As-Saabirun (the pa-tient)." (37:102)

The word with in this verse is a signfor friendship, meaning that he (the son)became attached to his father because hewalked with him. Also, the son was not ababy that he would not be able to bewith his father, nor was he old enough tobe independent, but Isma`eel reached theage where he walked with his father andaccompanied him. And it is during thistime that a father becomes strongly at-tached to his son. Allaah says when hewas old enough to walk with his fathermeaning Isma`eel would walk with andhelp Ibraheem.

It was said that he was seven years orthirteen years old, and it may be any agebetween that. Because if he was olderthan 13 years he might be able to be-come independent by himself, on theother hand if he was younger than 7years then he would be in need of care, and the father would not be attached to

him, but the mother would get attachedto her son when he was a baby more sothan when he had grown up to be ayoung man. It is the father who gets at-tached to his son during this age.

So when Isma`eel reached the age to walk with Ibraheem, Allaah tested Ibra-heem may peace and blessings of Allaah be onhim with a great test. No one would beable to face that test except those who

are in the same situation as them (Ibraheemand Isma`eel). And know that this son wasthe first born to Ibraheem and this waswhen he was at older age.

It was then that Allaah tested him, Al-laah showed him in his sleep that he isslaughtering this boy. And that dream was

news which entails action, but Ibraheem was not disturbed, nor did he get emo-tional. Rather he was tranquil to that news. Then Ibraheem shared the news with hisson (Isma`eel) - not to seek his consulta-tion, but to test him.

Ibraheem would not consult his son insomething that Allaah has commanded him

with. It was to see his ability to accept thisgreat matter. O my son! I have seen in adream that I am slaughtering you.

Look at this kindness in using O myson - it does not push the impression thathe was harsh with him, but it indicated thatkindness has overwhelmed the heart ofIbraheem.

Then Ibraheem said, so look what youthink!" meaning think in this matter ofyours, and his reply was astonishing. Hesaid "O my father! Do that which you arecommanded. Do which you are com-manded - praises be to Allaah - he did noteven say I have no objection to that, rather he said Do - encouraging to act.He did not say do what you saw, ratherhe said do that which you are com-manded, encouraging Ibraheem to act,

because if Ibraheem was reminded that this was a command from Allaah, this wouldgive him strength in acting in performingthis command.

Also, Isma`eel may peace and blessings ofAllaah be on himwas afraid that the mercy of

the son would catch his father and that maylead him (Ibraheem) to ask Allaah in regardto this matter. Then Isma`eel suggestedthat his father should carry out that whichhe was commanded with. Do that whichyou are commanded. He did not saywhat you saw, encouraging Ibraheem tohasten in acting on the command. Do thatwhich you are commanded, Insha Allaah (if

Allaah will), you shall find me of AsSabirun (the patient)." MashaAllaah, mean-ing that if Allaah did not will then you willnot find me like that, but you shall find me,if Allaah wills, from the patient fromthose who are patient on the commands of Allaah and those who are patient in theface of Allaahs trials, because this com-mand is from the greatest trials.

It is from the greatest trials for a personto be patient and to be killed in obedienceto the commands of Allaah the Most High. Here Isma`eel may peace and blessings of Al-laah be on himdid not say, You will findme, Allaah willing, patient, rather he saidas of the patient, indicating that he may

peace and blessings of Allaah be on him will befollowing those who are described with thisquality - patience.

O my son! I have seen in a dream

    that I am slaughtering you.

THE UDHIYYAH IS the sacrificialoffering that is performed anytime

after the `Eed prayer on the Day of Sacri-fice (Yawmun-Nahr ), up until sunset of thelast of the days of Tashreeq (13th Dhul-Hijjah).

In order for the Udhiyyahto be valid, it

must meet certain conditions. They are as follows:

The animal must be one from the fourtypes of cattle: a camel, a cow, a sheep, or agoat. This is because Allaah says, And forevery nation We have appointed reli-gious ceremonies that they may men-tion the Name of Allaah over the beastsof cattle that He has given them forfood. [Al-Hajj 20:34].

The animal must have reached the age atwhich it is fully developed. For camels thisis after five years, for cows it is after twoyears and for sheep and goats it is after oneyear. However, if it is difficult to find ananimal of mature age it is permissible toslaughter a sheep of six months due to thestatement of the Prophet (sAllaahu alayhi wa sallam), Do not slaughter any animal exceptfor one that is mature in age unless that is difficultfor you, in which case you may slaughter a prema-ture one from among sheep.[Muslim]

The animal must not have any of thesedefects mentioned by our Prophet

(Sallalahu alayhi wa sallam): The lameanimal that clearly walks crookedly; the one-eyedanimal that clearly has a defect in the eye; the sickanimal that clearly has signs of illness; and theemaciated animal that is (usually) not picked -Top of Form.[Maalik in al-Muwatta]

The one slaughtering the animal must

have the right to do so. Either he ownsthe animal or has been given permissionby the owner to slaughter it, or he has theright for certain religious reasons (i.e. us-ing another persons funds to slaughter ontheir behalf). No one else has any right tothe animal.

The animal must be slaughtered withina specific time period: from after the `Eedprayer on `Eedul-Adha to before the sunsets on the thirteenth of Dhul-Hijjah.

There are also some etiquettes thatshould be observed when one is offeringthe Udhiyyah; these however are not re-quired for the slaughter to be valid: Theperson should sharpen the blade wherethe animal does not see. He then faces theqiblah and quickly slaughters in a goodmanner across the animals neck area sev-ering the jugular veins, throat, and esopha-gus. He glorifies and extols Allaah, men-tioning the name of the person for whomthe animal is being slaughtered, and askingAllaah to accept it. [al-ibaanah.com]

    Why fast the Day of

    `Aashooraa

THE NEW HIJRI year is almostupon us and with it comes another

merciful blessing from our Lord, AllaahSubhaanahu wa ta`aalaa. The day of`Aashooraa is the tenth day of the firstmonth of the Hijri year - the sacredmonth of Muharram. What follows aresome reports taken from Saheeh Targheebwa Tarheeb by Shaykh MuhammadNaasirud-Deen al-Albaani.

1017 Narrated by Abu Qataada (may Allaah be pleased with him) that theMessenger of Allaah (peace and blessings

of Allaah be upon him) was asked aboutthe fasting of `Aashooraa, he said, "Itexpiates the sins of the preceding year".[Muslim, Saheeh]

1018 Narrated by ibn Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with them) that theMessenger of Allaah (May the peace andblessings of Allaah be upon him) fastedthe day of `Aashooraa or he com-manded us to fast it. [Bukhaaree andMuslim, Saheeh]

1020 (Hasan li ghayrihi) Also narrated

by Ibn Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with them), he said, The Prophet(peace be upon him) didnt look forwardfor a preferred day over another afterRamadan except` Aashooraa.[at-Tabaraanee]

THE ADVICE FROM Allaah to thefirst and the last is the command to

have taqwaa. Allaah said, in His NobleBook, Al-Qur'an: ...And verily, We haverecommended to the people of theScripture before you, and to you (OMusl ims) that you (a l l ) fear

    Allh [An Nisaa 4:131]

Likewise, the Messenger of Allaah maypeace and blessings of Allaah be on him advisedMuaadh ibn Jabal when he sent him toYemen to have taqwa of Allaah. He said tohim, "Have taqwaa of Allaah wherever youare and follow a bad deed with a good oneand it shall wipe it out and have good char-acter in dealing with the people." [Jaami at-Tirmidhee]

What is Taqwa? The meaning of taqwaais carrying out what Allaah commands and

staying away from what He forbids.

Rewards for having Taqwa of Allaah!

Allaah promises the Muttaqeen thosewho have taqwaa, an abundance of rewardsin this world and the hereafter. Allaahsaid, in His Noble Book, Al-Qur'an:

Verily, the Muttaqn will be in placeof Security (Paradise). Among Gardensand Springs. [ Ad-Dukhan 44:51-52]

And, Verily, for the Muttaqn, therewill be a success (Paradise); Gardensand vineyards. [ An-Nabaa 78:31-32]

And, Verily, the Muttaqun, will be inthe midst of Gardens and Rivers(Paradise). In a seat of truth (i.e. Para-dise), near the Omnipotent King (Allh, the Owner of Majesty and Hon-our). [ Al-Qamar 54:54-55]

And, And whosoever fears Allh and

keeps his duty to Him, He will make away for him to get out (from every diffi-culty). And He will provide him from(sources) he never could imagine [At-Talaaq 65:2-3]

There are numerous other aayaat andahaadeeth concerning the reward fortaqwaa.

An Actualization of Tawqa - Sacrificingfor Allaah Alone!

From the aspects of taqwaa of Allaah is toperform all types of worship for Allaahalone. Among these acts of worship is sac-rificing with the intent of getting closer toAllaah with the dhabeehah i.e. the sacrificialanimal. Another way of drawing closer to Allaah is by giving charity, and the hady(sacrificial offering which is done duringHajj), and the sacrificing of the udhiyyah(the sacrifice done during Eedul-Adhah). To get closer to Allaah by these acts ofworship is a means of showing sincerity inTawheed. You get closer to Allaah by do-ing the sacrifice with contentment and

kindness and to carry out the command-ment of Allaah. This is an act which drawsone closer to Him and this is tawheed ofAllaah. All of it should be directed to Al-laah

Sincerity to Allaah Alone in all Sacri-fices!

Allaah commands that all sacrifices - dha-beehah and hady- and all acts of charity

should be directed to Him meaning that aperson should have sincerity towards Al-laah. As Allaah, the Most High said,

Therefore turn in prayer to your Lordand sacrifice (to Him only). [al-Kawthar 108:2] And He said, Say (OMuhammad): Verily, my prayer, mysacrifice, my living, and my dying arefor Allh, the Lord of the mankind, jinn

and all that exists. He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. [al-

    Anaam 6:162-163]

Hindrance of Tawqa - Sacrificing forother than Allaah!

However, if a person sacrifices to otherthan Allaah, for example to the jinn or tothe grave or to a specific Shaykh who haspassed away, or he tries to get closer tosome star as some of the Mushrikoon do,or to get close to a king or other than that, then all of these are acts of shirk. So who-ever sacrifices to other than Allaah hascommitted an act of shirk. In a hadeeth onthe authority of Ali ibn abi Taalib the Mes-senger of Allaah said, Allaah has cursed theone who sacrifices to other than Allaah, and Al-laah has cursed the one who curses his parents and

Allaah has cursed the one who changes the bounda-ries of the earth.[Sahih Muslim]

    Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).

other subjects. The individual must identify the aayaat

which discuss one topic. This is the firstphase. It is advisable to seek help fromsome of the books of Tafseer.

There are some masaahif in which thetopics are identified; and some books of

Tafseer which specify the aayaat whichdiscuss a particular subject e.g. Tafseer ibnKatheer, which identifies the aayaat whichspeak about a single topic, and there aremany books of Tafseer which do this.

Second Stage: Study the meaning of thewords and phrases.

The individual must know that each par-ticular subject is made up of a number ofwords/phrases which have meaning in theShareeah (Legislation) and in the language. An individual must understand the mean-

ing of these words in order to appropriatelyuse the linguistic or legislative meaning

THIS SUBJECT CONSISTS of a clari-fication of the stages which one must

traverse in order to gain a thorough under-standing of the Book of Allaah subhaanahuwa Ta'ala.

It also entails a discussion of the variousbooks which an individual must utilize inorder to aid his understanding of the Book

of Allaah, as well as the other sciences which will contribute to a better under-standing.

First Stage: Select a topic and identifythe Aayaat dealing with that topic!

One must specify a group of aayaat on aparticular topic. For example, if you look atSurah al-Baqarah, you will find that it deals with many topics. It contains statementson: eemaan (belief), kufr (disbelief), nifaaq(hypocrisy), ahlul Kitaab (the People of theBook), Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah), Siyaam

(fasting), talaaq (divorce), ribaa (interest),mudaayanaat (blood money and debts) and

accordingly to correctly understand whatAllaah subhanau Ta'alais saying.

From the best books which have beenauthored to explain the meanings of the words which are ghareeb al-Quraan, de-tailed terminology of the Quraan as foundin the Quraan is the book: MufradaatGhareeb al-Quraan by ar-Raaghib al-

Asfahaanee. In this book the author col-lects all the words in the Quraan and ex-plains their linguistic and legislative mean-ings.

    Understanding the Qur'aan

ACTS AND ETIQUETTESon theDay of `Eed from the Sunnah are:

Performing salaatul-`Eed with the Jama`ah(main body) of Muslims. Some Ulamaa` saythat it is waajib(obligatory) and others say itis Fardul-Kifaayah (i.e. a communal obliga-tion meaning that if a group of Muslimsestablish the `Eed salaah those who did notperform the salaah would be exempted orexcused).

Also, one should refrain from eatinguntil after the salaah; the first thing you

should eat from is your Udhiyyahi.e. sacrifi-cial animal. (This is unlike `Eed-ul-Fitrwhere you eat before the salaah to empha-size that Ramadaan had ended).

Muslims should beautify themselves and wear clothing specifically obtained for the`Eed prayer.

Muslims should also greet one another. There is no specific greeting but it goesback to what the people use in their culture

or tradition, provided that it does not haveanything which goes against Islam. Itshould contain some sort of du`aa for thepeople so that it is a supplication and agreeting in one.

There should be celebration and playingon this day (so that the people and espe-cially the children would enjoy the `Eed). The udhiyyahshould be slaughtered afterthe`Eed salaah.

    IN THE ARABIC language, Al-ilm- k n o w l e d g e m e a n s

understanding or knowing, and itsShareeah (legislation) meaning is:knowing the Deen (Religion) ofIslam with evidences.

    The evidences come from the

Quraan and the Sunnah of ourProphet, and what they inform us of theunseen and the apparent. Knowledge ofthe unseen includes what will happenon Yawmul-Qiyaamah (the Day ofReckoning) and in the life to come as itis explained in the Quraan and Sunnah.

Knowledge of the apparent includesacts of worship, business transactions, and other social relationships in theDeen. Knowledge is based on Eemaan(belief) that we have; and believing inAllaah, submitting to Him and carrying

out whatever He commands us to do.The ability to implement Allaahs com-mands is in fact a favor and blessingfrom Allaah which He bestows on Hisworshippers who seek knowledge of theDeen and who act upon that knowl-edge.

Al-Haafidh Ibn Rajab said concern-ing knowledge in his bookThe Virtuesof the Knowledge of the Salaf above the Knowl-edge of the Khalaf: Knowledge is lightwhich is cast into the heart. With it the

servant understands the truth, and with ithe distinguishes between truth and false-hood; and he articulates this with conciseexpressions which achieve the intended(goal).

The light which is cast into theheart, occurs with an abundance of

seeking knowledge and eebaadah(worship) and a desire to follow the Mes-senger of Allaah may peace and blessings of

Allaah be on him. After that, one must actupon this knowledge, put it into practice, and teach it to the people. This is one ofthe highest stations of subservience toAllaah and the means of earning Allaahspleasure.

So if a servant fulfils this, Allaah castsinto his heart understanding of theQuraan and the Sunnah and makes himfrom the People of Understanding.

Now that we have mentioned the defi-nition of knowledge, in the next issue we will explain theVirtue of Knowl-edge, InshaAllaah.

WE FIND MANY journalists who write for Islamic magazines men-

tioning ahaadeeth [in their articles] attribut-ing to the Prophet may peace and blessings of

Allaah be on him without mentioning theirsources from the books of the pure Sun-nah. Furthermore, they attribute these

ahaadeeth to the Prophet may peace and bless-ings of Allaah be on him confirming withoutverifying that they are from him while theseahaadeeth could be weak or fabricated.

And some authors fill up the pages ex-plaining those unverified ahaadeeth andsome even use these ahadeeth as a legalproof even though it has been proven inau-thentic by the very specialized scholars ofhadeeth. What follows is a small piece ofadvice to the preachers and those who de-liver sermons.

It is impermissible for a Muslim to at-tribute a hadeeth to the Prophet may peaceand blessings of Allaah be on him until afterverifying the validity of that hadeeth basedon the principles of the scholars ofHadeeth. The proof for this is the saying ofthe may peace and blessings of Allaah be on him,Beware of narrating from me except for what youare certain of. Whoever deliberately tells lies aboutme deliberately let him take his place in the Fire.Collected by Ibn Abee Shaybah with anauthentic chain of narration just as it can befound in Faydul-Qadeer.

There are two Methods of Verifying:

    1. For the student [of knowledge] to lookinto the chain of narration and investigateits reporters and conversely grade it eitherbeing authentic or weak basing this gradingof his upon the principles and fundamentsof the Science of Hadeeth without blindlyfollowing a specific Imaam who may havedeclared it to be authentic or weak. This is

an extremely scarce act during these times, with deep regret; just a few individualscarry out this difficult task.

    2. For the student [of knowledge] to relyon: (either) a book whos author has madeit specific only for the authentic ahaadeeth

such as the two authentic books (of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim). Or [he should relyon] the statements of the investigators and

scientists of hadeeth such as Imaam Ahmad, Ibn Maeen, Aboo Haatim ar-Raazee and others from those who suc-

ceeded them and also [scholars of camelater on] such as an-Nawawee, adh-Dhahabee, az-Zaylaiee, al-Asqalaanee, andthose similar from the scholars who cameafter the earlier generations.

This method is much easier for the pur-suer of the truth; however it requires a per-son to put forth great efforts in revisionand exploration of the ahaadeeth, and it is amatter that is binding. It is not proper foranyone who has jealousy for his religionand is eager and diligent upon keeping his

legislature from being polluted by some-thing which is not from it to turn asidefrom this matter.

For this reason the jurist Ibn Hajar al-Haytamee say in his book al-Fataawaa al-

Madeeniyyah (pg.32): He- may Allaah bepleased with him - was asked regarding apreacher who ascends the pulpit every Fri-day - and narrates many ahaadeeth withoutclarifying those who collected them nor

their reporters and narrators, so what ismandatory upon him?

He answered by saying: Thoseahaadeeth that he mentions in his speechwithout clarifying their reporters and narra-tors are okay for him to mention with thecondition that he is among those who are

firmly grounded in field of Hadeeth. Orthat he relates them from a book whoseauthor is from the People of Hadeeth.

As for him relating them from thspeeches whose authors are not from thepeople of hadeeth, then this is not permis-

sible! Whoever does that should be disci-plined harshly. This is the case with manypreachers, indeed, when they see a sermonthat contains ahaadeeth in it, they memo-rize it and preach by it without knowingthat these ahaadeeth have a [authentic]source or not.

It is incumbent upon the rulers of everycounty to discipline its preachers regardingthis matter. Then he said: Moreover, it isupon this preacher to clarify his source ofnarration. If it was an authentic source then

there is no objection on him. Otherwiseobjection is applicable on him. Indeed it ispermissible for the ruler to remove himfrom the job of preaching as a disciplinefor his attempt to misrepresent this honor-able position without right.

The Obligation of Understandingthe Science of Hadeeth

another. It is crucial for this person tomaintain the company of the righteousindividuals and to disbelieve in the false worship of Jesus. So, he should try to sitwith the pious people.

We advise him also to acquire beneficialbooks such as Riayaadh As-Saaliheen,"Fathu Al-Majeed, Sharh Kitaab At- Tawheed", "Buloogh Al-Maraam" an"Tafseer ibn Katheer".

Additionally, we advise him to take Al-Islaam from the books of Islaam, not fromthe actions of the Muslims because theiractions can be rather evil. For it is possiblethat you will find a Muslim lying, commit-ting adultery and drinking intoxicantswhilst he knows these things are forbidden.

Non-Muslims see these evil acts of theMuslims and then they judge the Muslimsbased on these evil acts. We would reply tothem by saying: We do not call you to this(these evil acts) rather we call you to stick-ing to the correct religion. {Verily, Allaahenjoins Al-`Adl (i.e. justice and worship-

ping none but Allaah Alone - IslaamicMonotheism) and Al-Ihsaan [i.e. to be pa-tient in performing your duties to Allaah, totally for Allaah's sake and in accordancewith the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophetmay peace and blessings of Allaah be on him in aperfect manner], and giving (help) to kithand kin and forbids Al-Fahshaa'(i.e. all evildeeds)Al-Munkar(i.e. all that is prohibitedby Islaamic law: , andAl-Baghy(i.e. all kindsof oppression), He admonishes you, thatyou may take heed.} (An-Nahl 16:90)

This is how the affair of trust and other

matters should be, (yet) Muslims may haveerred or committed atrocities that are con-tradictory to the Legislation of Islaam. These Muslims are not a proof for Islaam;rather Islaam is a proof against these Mus-lims.

Question: what is the best way to giveDawah ?

Answer: The way [to give Dawah] - likeAllaah Aza wa Jal clarified - is clear in theBook of Allaah and Sunnah of his Prophet.

Allaah Subhaanahu wa Taaala says:{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord with wisdom (i.e. withthe Divine Inspiration and the Quraan) andfair preaching, and argue with them in away that is best.} [An Nahl/125]

Allaah Taaala also says:{And by the Mercy of Allaah, you dealtwith them gently. And had you been severeand harshhearted, they would have bro-ken away from around you} [AlImraan/159]

Allaah Az wa Jal also says in the story ofMusa and Haaroon when He sent them toPhiraon (Pharaoh): {And speak to himmildly, perhaps he may accept admonitionor fear Allaah.} [Taha/44]

So the caller to is to choose a good methodand have Hikmah in that; and it [Hikmah]is knowledge of what Allaah said and whatcame in the noble Prophetic narrations, and then fine sermon as well as kind wordsthat affect the hearts and remind them ofthe afterlife, death, Al Jannah and the fire.In order that the hearts accept the Dawah,

turn to it and listen attentively to what theDaeeyah (caller) is saying.

Likewise if there is a Shubhah (doubt/misconception) that the one who is beingcalled has, then he is to cure it in a mannerthat is best, and remove it, not with harsh-ness and force, but in a manner that is best.So he mentions the Shubhah and removesit with proofs.

Also, he is not to tire, weaken or get angryand chase the one who is being called away.Rather he is to choose the appropriatemanner as well as the appropriate clarifica-tions and proofs. He is to withstand theissues that anger him and give his sermon with calmness and gentleness, it may bethat Allaah will facilitate its acceptance bythose being called. By Noble Shaykh Abdul-

Question: If Allaah guides a man toenter the religion of Al-Islaam, whatshould he say and what should be saidto him?

Answer: He should say, Ash hadu an laaillaaha illa Allaah, wa anna Muhammadan Ra-soolu-llaah (I testify that there is nothingworthy of worship besides Allaah and that

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah). Then he is advised to sit with the righteousones.

The Messenger Muhammad may peace andblessings of Allaah be on him said, The simili-tude of good company and that of bad company islike that of the owner of musk and of the one (iron-smith) blowing bellows; the owner of musk wouldeither offer you free of charge or you would buy (it)

from him or you would smell its pleasant odor, whilst the one who blows the bellows would eitherburn your clothes or you would have to smell itsrepugnant odor.

At the time when we were at the Univer-sity of Madinah, we were informed of asituation that took place in which a personaccepted Islaam. Thereby, he transferredfrom the residency of the Christians to theresidency of the Muslims. He found thatthese Muslims would not establish theirdaily prayers, so his Islaam became merelyan act of relocating from one residency to
