Dear Parishioners,

The Gospel message for Easter Sunday starts with: “On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him.” The rest of the message is practically a marathon between the disciples over who will be the first to enter the tomb. They start to believe that the resurrection took place and indeed is real.

Going back to the words of Mary of Magdala, I would like to focus on the word “taken.” Many things and many people were taken from us, things that we liked or some had lost their meaning to us or their use. The people we loved or knew, young and old, taken from us by death, or they have moved on from our life. Each year is different, and each year we celebrate Easter in some different way.

Christ’s Resurrection is a victory over death. Christ’s Resurrection is a victory over things or people that were taken. Christ’s Resurrection is an assurance that death was conquered and taken doesn’t mean lost or forgotten. By Christ’s Resurrection, and by our Baptism, we are all immersed in eternity, a promise of life that is eternal. Every day we cherish and remember not only events that took place over two thousand years ago, but mostly we do keep hope, memory, and love of those who are no longer with us. Nonetheless, we wait for the time when we can all journey together eternally in the presence of God.

This spring I will celebrate my 10th anniversary of Ordination to Priesthood and I can say that I am truly blessed to be able to celebrate this occasion and this Easter with you. I am very humbled by your love and the care you show me and our parish. May God Bless you and your family during this Easter season for your generosity towards our parish. Please remember that things or people may be taken from us but hope, love, and the living memory can never be erased from our hearts. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Rev. Chris Kulig

Drodzy Parafianie, Ewangelia na Niedzielę Wielkanocną zaczyna się słowami: “Pierwszego dnia po szabacie, wczesnym rankiem, gdy jeszcze było ciemno, Maria Magdalena udała się do grobu i zobaczyła kamień odsunięty od grobu. Pobiegła więc i przybyła do Szymona Piotra i do drugiego ucznia, którego Jezus miłował i rzekła do nich: "Zabrano Pana z grobu i nie wiemy,

gdzie go położono." Pozostała część to praktycznie maraton pomiędzy uczniami, który z nich pierwszy dotrze do grobu i uwierzy, że zmartwychwstanie miało miejsce i jest prawdziwe.

Powracając do słów Maryi Magdaleny, chciałbym skupić się na słowie "zabrano."

Wiele rzeczy i wielu ludzi zostało nam zabranych. Niektóre były to ulubione rzeczy, a niektóre może utraciły swoje znaczenie lub użytek dla nas. Ludzi, których kochaliśmy lub znaliśmy, młodych i starszych, zabranych przez śmierć lub przez wybór lokacji odeszli z naszego życia. Każdego roku są zmiany i każdego roku świętujemy Wielkanoc w inny sposób.

Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa jest zwycięstwem nad śmiercią. Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa jest zwycięstwem nad rzeczami i osobami, którzy już nie są z nami. Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa jest zapewnieniem, że śmierć została pobita i zabrano nie oznacza utraty lub zapomnienia. Przez Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa i przez nasz chrzest, wszyscy jesteśmy zanurzeni w wieczności, w obietnicy wiecznego życia. Każdego dnia powinniśmy pielęgnować i pamiętać nie tylko wydarzenia, które miały miejsce ponad dwa tysiące lat temu, ale przede wszystkim zawsze mieć nadzieję, pamięć i miłość tych, którzy już nie są z nami. Niemniej jednak oczekujemy tego momentu, kiedy wszyscy spotkamy się w obecności Boga.

W tym roku będę obchodził 10-tą rocznicę Święceń Kapłańskich i jestem naprawdę

szczęśliwy, że mogę obchodzić tę rocznicę i Wielkanoc razem z Wami. Jestem bardzo wzruszony Waszą miłością i troską, którą okazujecie dla mnie i naszej parafii. Niech Bóg Błogosławi Was i Wasze rodziny podczas tego Wielkanocnego czasu za wszelką hojność. Pamiętajmy, że rzeczy i osoby mogą być nam zabrane, ale nadzieja, miłość i pamięć nigdy nie mogą być wymazane z naszych serc.

jest praktykującym katolikiem; jesteśmy proszeni, aby udzielić sakramentów dla osób, które nie mieszkają lub nie uczęszczają do naszej parafii. Prawo Kościelne wymaga od proboszcza by poznał ludzi zanim potwierdzi informacje lub

wyrazi zgodę na którykolwiek z sakramentów lub dokumentów. Niepotrzebne wypytywanie niezapisanych do parafii osób jest trudne i kłopotliwe. Często zainteresowane

osoby denerwują się, że nie otrzymują potrzebnych im dokumentów natychmiast. Istnieje proste rozwiązanie takich problemów: należy zarejestrować się do parafii.

Samo uczestnictwo we Mszy Św. w parafii nie oznacza, że jestem zarejestrowany.

Dużo niepotrzebnego żalu można uniknąć przez oficjalne zadeklarowanie siebie i swojej rodziny do parafii. Prosimy modlitewnie rozważyć przyłączenie i zarejestrowanie się

Easter Sunday 2017

Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Risen Lord,

This year’s Easter gospel comes to us from Saint Matthew. He describes Easter morning. Women go to the tomb at dawn on the first day of the week. An angel appears and speaks to them: “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples.” In these words, we find the essential Easter message directed to each one of us today in our uncertain world and amid the painful burdens we carry: do not be afraid, come and see, go and tell. Easter eases our fear when we come to know God’s triumph in the resurrection of Jesus. Easter invites us to come and see with fresh eyes what God has done in conquering sin and death. Easter summons us to go and share our faith and hope with others. When we hear this message and recognize Jesus Christ as the Risen Lord of life, how can we not praise and thank God? How can we not walk together with new confidence and hope? In a time when violence and death-dealing forces seem rampant in the world and even in our own neighborhoods, we truly need new confidence and hope. And when we listen to the Lord, as we have been trying to do in the Archdiocese of Chicago, to seek directions for the renewal of our local Church, we surely need new confidence and hope. Pray with me that we may all truly hear the words—do not be afraid, come and see, go and tell—and so draw new life from them for our loved ones, our world, our city and metropolitan area, our Church, and our very selves.

Drodzy Bracia i Drogie Siostry w Zmartwychwstałym Panu, Tegoroczne czytanie Ewangelii pochodzi od św. Mateusza. Autor opisuje poranek Wielkanocny. Kobiety o poranku, pierwszego dnia tygodnia poszły do grobu. Pojawił się tam anioł i powiedział do nich: „Wy się nie bójcie! Gdyż wiem, że szukacie Jezusa Ukrzyżowanego. Nie ma Go tu, bo zmartwychwstał, jak powiedział. Chodźcie, zobaczcie miejsce, gdzie leżał. A idźcie szybko i powiedzcie Jego uczniom”. W tych słowach odnaj-dujemy podstawowe przesłanie Wielkanocy skierowane do każdego z nas w dzisiejszym niepewnym, przytłaczającym dźwiganymi ciężarami świecie: nie bójcie się, chodźcie i zobaczcie, idźcie i powiedzcie. Wielkanoc łagodzi nasz lęk, gdyż w zmartwychwstaniu Jezusa widzimy tryumf Boga. Wielkanoc jest zaproszeniem dla nas, abyśmy przyszli i świeżym spojrzeniem dostrzegli to, czego dokonał Bóg, gdy pokonał grzech i śmierć. Wielkanoc jest wezwaniem dla nas, abyśmy szli i dzielili się naszą wiarą i nadzieją z innymi. Jakże moglibyśmy słysząc to przeslanie i rozpoznając Jezusa Chrystusa jako Zmartwychwstałego Pana życia, nie chwalić Boga i nie dziękować Mu? Jakże moglibyśmy wspólnie nie kroczyć naprzód z nowym zawierzeniem i nową nadzieją? W czasie, kiedy przemoc i śmiercionośne siły zdają się gwałtownie rozprzestrzeniać w świecie, a nawet w naszych środowiskach i sąsiedztwach, prawdziwie potrzebujemy nowego zawierzenia i nowej nadziei. Kiedy słuchamy Pana, tak jak to próbujemy robić w Archidiecezji Chicago, w poszukiwaniu wskazówek dla odnowy naszego lokalnego Kościoła, z pewnością potrzebujemy nowego zawierzenia i nowej nadziei. Proszę, módlcie się ze mną, abyśmy wszyscy prawdziwie usłyszeli słowa: nie bójcie się, chodźcie i zobaczcie, idźcie i powiedzcie – a także abyśmy czerpali z nich nowe życie dla naszych najbliższych, dla naszego świata, naszego miasta, naszej całej metropolii, naszego Kościoła i także dla nas samych.

Question: In our bulletin before Easter,

there were two lists of people joining the church: candidates and

catechumens. What is the difference?

Answer:

People who come to the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of

Adults) have various backgrounds. Some come to find out about faith; others are baptized in

another Christian denomination and are seeking full communion

with us; and still others come already knowing they want to be baptized. Those already baptized, who seek full communion with us,

are called candidates. Their formation in faith has already

begun and they have knowledge of Jesus, the Gospels, and what it

means to be a believer. Those who are not baptized need to be

formed in faith and develop a relationship with God. They are called catechumens. We do not

want to diminish the importance of faith formation by making the RCIA another study session of the

catechism. Other elements of church life are also important:

community, spirituality, traditions, Scripture, personal

commitment to faith, etc. All of these things are discussed and

experienced in the RCIA as part of the initiation into the church

community. As such, the whole parish becomes part of that

process as we invite and welcome people to join us and our church.
