LAY-UP SERVICE “COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION FOR YOUR IDLING
TONNAGE”.
LAY UP / STACKING / MOTHBALLING / STANDBY FOR ORDER
Laying-up Ships / Rigs makes good business sense during tough times,
especially at times of low demand for ocean freight and depressed rates. Not only does
it allow ship/rig owners and operators to avoid non-profitable journeys and over supply,
significant financial benefits can be gained by laying-up a vessel instead of scrapping it.
TMG Lay-Up Services has prepared the services as support for customers that
opt to lay-up their vessels – whether it be for shorter or longer periods – and
to provide a clear overview of the lay-up methods and services available.

SHIP-TO-SHIP (STS) TRANSFER
Transferring oil, gas or chemical cargo from ship-to-ship is a highly technical
and challenging operation that requires specialist skills and equipment,
rapid mobilization capability and the experience that enables us to respond
fast in changing conditions.
You demand the highest standards of safety and professionalism - and so
do we. That’s why every STS operation we conduct is performed safely and
seamlessly, with well-maintained equipment and professional team.
Every liquid bulk and gas transfer operation is carried out by TMG in
accordance with the guidelines set out by:
OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum)
SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators).
Ship-To-Ship transfer guide for petroleum, chemicals and liquefied
gases
ICS (International Chamber of Shipping)
MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from
Ships)
CDI (Chemical Distribution Institute)
All operations are handled by trained and experienced
personnel to ensure safe control.
The parties involved in STS Operations are:
The Two Ships and their Masters,
The Ship Owners,
The Charterers,
The Cargo Owners,
The Independent Cargo Quantity / Quality Surveyor
The STS Advisor / Mooring Master / Person in Overall
Advisory Control (POAC). However in some cases one
of the two captains can act as POAC
The STS Operator Company, which will normally
provide the mooring master, agency, logistics and the
necessary equipment (i.e. tuggage, fenders, hoses,
etc.).
