Much of th e Kaibab National Forest is remote.Medical assistance may not be readily av ailable.Cellular teleph ones do not w ork in many areas of th eKaibab National Forest. T ake adequate food, w ater,first-aid supplies, and oth er equipment appropriate forth e conditions and expected w eath er.
O perating a motor v eh icle on National ForestSystem roads, National Forest System trails, and inareas on National Forest System lands carries ag reater responsibility th an operating th at v eh icle in acity or oth er dev eloped setting . Not only must youknow and follow all applicable traffic law s, you need tosh ow concern for th e environment as w ell as oth erforest users. T h e misuse of motor v eh icles can lead toth e temporary or permanent closure of any desig natedroad, trail, or area. As a motor v eh icle operator, youare also subject to State traffic law, including Staterequirements for licensing , reg istration, and operationof th e v eh icle in question. Motor v eh icle use, especially off-h ig h w ay v eh icleuse, inv olv es inh erent risks th at may cause propertydamag e, serious injury, and possibly death toparticipants. Driv e cautiously and anticipate roug hsurfaces and features, such as snow, mud, v eg etation,and w ater crossing s common to remote driv ingconditions. PROHIBITIONS It Is prohibited to possess or operate a motorvehicle on National Forest System lands on theKaibab National Forest other than in accordancewith these designations (CFR 261.13)

V iolators of 36 CFR 261.13 are subject to a fine ofup to $5,000, imprisonment for up to 6 month s, or both(18 U .S.C. 3571(e)).T h is proh ibition applies reg ardlessof th e presence or absence of sig ns. T h is map does not display nonmotorized uses,ov er-snow uses, or oth er facilities and attractions onth e Kaibab National Forest. O btain forest visitorinformation from th e local national forest office. Desig nated roads, trails and areas may also besubject to temporary, emerg ency closures. As a visitor,you must comply with sig ns notifying you of suchrestrictions. T h e v eh icle may only be driv enone mile from a desig nated open road.H unters are required to use th e most direct and leastg round disturbing route in and out of th e area toaccomplish th e retriev al. Motorized g ame retriev al isnot permitted in trav el restricted areas, and may notcross riparian areas, streams or w etland areas exceptat h ardened crossing s or crossing s with existingculv erts. Motorized g ame retriev al is not permittedmore th an one mile from an open road or w h enconditions are such th at trav el w ould increase th elikelih ood of neg ativ e resource impacts (i.e. muddy,w et soils with potential for compaction and rutting ).
