Greetings to the loyal readers of La Voz Hispana. Every day I wonder at the potential of the Latino community in South Dakota. I’m working on a study of the Latino mar-ket in South Dakota, and statistics and information I have obtained is impressive. Our community has an accelerated growth of 49% over a period of two years. !e contribution of this community, to the state’s economy, is one of about $ 450 million last year. !e percentage of Latinos in new business alone, in the city of Sioux Falls, is greater than the

percentage of new businesses in the United States. Generating employment op-portunities positions for bilingual Latinos, grows every day in this region. !e American workforce is recognized as one of the best in this area.!e potential of the Latino community has in the political a"airs of this state is one that our community does not yet assimilated. Latinos registered to vote in the City of Sioux Falls and surrounding areas are about 7, 000 voters. If we consider that such an election for mayor voted or participated in the vote on the amount of about 3 000 people, if Latino voters to participate more in elections using the power of their vote. We would have the power to change any election, which would help us to improved or negotiate better alternatives in our city, for the Latino community. But this, at present, is not a priority in South Dakota, for Latinos. Taking the example at the national level, political parties that do not have in their political campaigns the Latino vote, they cannot win the presi-dency of this country. !e Latino vote represents 35% of the electorate, which gives us a power in matters that bene#t our country. As always thank you for your support of La Voz, and remember that the best is still to come, may God bless you always.

A wedding is always a huge expenditure of money that we can´t recover of or can hardly !nance. However, there are certain tricks you can play to make your big day the happiest day of your live without worrying about the bill during the celebration. Here are some websites where, with a little bit of creativity, we can have our big day for less money.www.diywedding.org!is site provides ideas, invitation printables, etc. and all free. Basic cra"s that you can make at home and that will look great in any social reunion. Some ideas are easier than others but the majority are basic acces-sories for one wedding: rice bags, table cards, favors for the guests, decorations...that will help you save some serious money and still let you have the best celebration.

and decor, you can sell / buy everything you need for much less than it costs on a store.

www.preownedweddingdresses.com!e wedding dress is always a huge investment for something that you’ll never wear again. !is site is a solution to that problem. !ousands of second hand dresses that were used only once, or have been never used, are sold for much less than in a store. You can sort by color, designer, locations, and be as elegant as if you were wearing a brand new wedding gown.www.recycledbride.com

And what do we do when everything is over? It is true that many times we buy and spend more than we should at a party that last only one day. And a"er all that, what do we do with all those vases, linens and other accessories that will never be use again? !is site is the solution. Countless second hand things organized by color can help you recover the money you invested, or if you are still in the process of organizing, you can save a few dollars buying things that have been worn by another bride. From dresses to tablecloths

Use what you already have. You never realize how original you can be with no money. Many things in you day to day can be used in this special day. Do not have money for dinner plates? Let’s use colored plastic ones! Can not buy table cloths? Take some di#erent ones and give a vintage touch to the celebration. Can not rent a celebrations room? Let’s make a great picnic in a park! !e important thing is to celebrate your love with the people you love, so do not forget to smile and CONGRATULATIONS!

Most women know that black is the color that helps our picture looks much thinner, if you do not like this color you can choose other dark colors like navy, gray or brown.

Posture is very important, so it is important that you try to keep straight and the abdomen retracted. Practice in front of a mirror and tell yourself, the visual e!ect is amazing.

To reduce some of these heinous cheeks, the best makeup tip is to mark your cheekbones with the help of a powder one shade darker than your skin. Apply from above and below the bone, also do not forget to put it in the neck to give the visual e!ect of thinness.

If you’re using an evening gown draped say goodbye to, as highlighted over those imperfections that both hate. It is best to wear dresses and also have fallen empire cut or being straight.Do not think to wear a size 28, if you’re 32! If you get something that is tighter than normal or smaller will seem to have many pounds than you really have.

!"#$%&'()*&+#,#)$-Wear loose hair will only cause more notice-able those cheeks, so it’s best to wear your hair up, so you will achieve style and lengthen the face.

It diverts attention and makes people notice other parts of your body with the help of accessories, these should always be extended to stylize your face but remember not to overdo it.

We recommend you use a belt that goes from the chaps to the bust; with it you can lengthen your silhouette and completely forget the fatties that you talked. "ey are much more comfortable than before.

Not everyone is dieting, sometimes appear thinner is a matter of changing our clothes.

Sometimes we starv, we kill purselves exercising, and even with that, we don´t get the body we had in mind. Many times, it is not about what we eat or how many calories we burn. !e role of a stylist goes beyond the salon or makeup, and many times, even when we have a great body, we might not look good at all because we do not wear the right style. !e following tips help to go a little further and play with the perception of the eye of others and “fool” the sense of the vision for us.

1. Put your health !rst. You can’t do a good job of caring for someone else if you don’t take care of yourself. Be sure to eat nutritious meals, get enough rest, see your doctor regularly, and exercise. “I wish that at the begin-ning I had been told to put my health and sanity !rst. Just like on an airplane where they tell you to put on your air mask !rst then help others. I learned the hard way that if you don’t look out for yourself, you put your loved ones health/life

in jeopardy along with your own,” says one mem-ber of AARP’s Caregiving Online Community. (www.aarp.org/online-community/groups/index.action?slGroupKey=Group92.)

2. Stay connected:Getting together in person—or virtually—with friends and relatives can improve your spirits.

3. Ask for help.Make a “to-do list” and recruit relatives and friends to pitch in.

4. Use community resources. Most communities have services that can help co-ordinate your loved one’s care and provide help with meals, housekeeping, grooming or transporta-tion. Check your community’s services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources’ El-dercare Locator by calling 1-800-677-1116. “"ere are so many services out there now to help care-

center, or agency that provides respite services.

6. Deal with your feelingsForgive yourself for feelings of anger. Consider joining a support group or making an appointment with a professional counselor.

7. Find time to relax.Whether it’s reading, yoga, prayer, or cooking—do something you enjoy to recharge. And laugh. Read-ing a funny book or watching a comedy can provide a much-needed break.

8. Get organized.Calendars and a journal can help you prioritize your responsibilities. Carry a list of your loved one’s medications (www.aarp.org/medicationrecord).

9. Just say “no”. Accept the fact that you simply can’t do everything! Resist the urge to take on more than you can han-dle.

10. Stay positive.Instead of dwelling on what you can’t do, pat yourself on the back for how much you are doing.Remember, caregivers are people with needs too. For more resources, visit www.aarp.org/caregivers.

What a week! How did I forget to give my mother-in-law the anti-nausea pill before eat-ing? What could I have done that would have kept her from falling in the bathroom? I am ex-hausted. An 80 years old woman went to her local doctor’s office and asked to speak with her doctor. When the receptionist asked why she was there, she replied, “I’d like to have some birth control pills.”Taken back, the doctor thought for a minute and then said, “Excuse me, Mrs. Glenwood, but you’re 80 years old. What would you possibly need birth control pills for?”The woman replied, “They help me sleep better.”The doctor considered this for a second, and continued… “How in the world do birth control pills help you sleep?”The woman said, “I put them in my granddaughter’s orange juice, and I sleep better at night.”

When did you arrive to USA and how did you end living in Sioux Falls?I came from India to the US in October 1997 to work at Citibank as a contractor. Initially, the position was at the Citibank in Hagerstown, MD. However, my earlier project was delayed and the next available position at Citibank was in Sioux Falls, SD. !at is how I came to Sioux Falls 14 years ago. I live in Sioux Falls with my wife Wendy, son Ketan and daughter Sasha.

How was the adaptation process? It was relatively easy to get adapted in Sioux Falls. !ere were three main things that needed a bit of adaptation. !e "rst is the English language. Even though I am educated in the language, I had not had much speak-ing practice. !e second is the winter and learning how to dress and adapt to it. I was 23 years old when I saw my "rst snow. !e third is learning to drive a car. In most places in the world, people live a lifetime without owning or knowing how to drive a car.

What did call your attention the most the !rst time you came into the States? My opinion about the United States was mainly based on what I saw from movies and TV shows such as the !ree’s Company and the Dukes of Haz-zard, when I was back home in India. I expected Americans to be relatively care-free and like what I saw in the TV and in the movies. However, most Americans are good family people and very helpful.
